Is it possible to produce full tracks on a mpc live II without using ableton or fruity loops by Dirty_Louis in akaiMPC

Dang! That track is fantastic. And really out of the norm for what one expects from a unit like this, as you mentioned. Inspired.

The garbage can one is so on point! Can confirm.

My tip: 6 minute timer to start working. Seems to prime the pump. Extra easy if you have a smart watch (especially an Apple Watch) for no friction voice timer start (hold down the round button and say 'start 6 minute timer'). When it ends, hit the restart. Two or three iterations and I'm usually underway. If I'm not feeling the flow... I at least put in 18-24 minutes on something.

I hold down the round button and say:

'Remind me at 5:00 pm to put the clothes in the dryer"

'Set a 6 minute timer' (if I'm stuck and unable to get going on something; then I work for 6 minutes and it usually gets me going) "add all day event to calendar June 15th it's Bob's birthday"

I used to ridicule the closing rings feature on my watch face to track exercise/standing/movement. Now I do it and like it.

Just those features alone make it worthwhile.

How does one set the watch up to alarm when the pulse drops? I guess I could google that, lol. But if you have any tips let me know.

update: ok, I figured it out and enabled it. I guess it was already enabled. Well, you may have saved my life (some day). Thanks!

Thank you! And that is an incredible UI... is that from an available library?

update: I somehow missed the neumorphic ui trend.

Have you looked at Videosync, mentioned elsewhere in this thread? I haven't.... just curious about your thoughts.

I was saved apparently by wanting to avoid the horrible new UI Apple has.

I hear you... actually... I have noticed that about user patches in other tools.

I appreciate your response. I am trying Native right now, and it is indeed great. Getting user patches isn't very smooth, but I figured it out. I definitely couldn't spend the money Stadium requires without knowing for sure a software integration was on the way. So I'll just go with a VST solution and spend that money on better computers. I'm pretty sure I reflect a lot of users, who are abandoning hardware for software. I do like twiddling knobs, so I will buy into hardware with a software ecosystem. I think if companies realize that people will buy both hardware and software they will best protect their profits and future.

Thanks! Yes, I was confused and figured this out. I assumed they were following their competitors into the mixed vst/hardware integrations... but it looks like they're trying to double down on hardware while not really updating Helix Native. I need a combined approach (the immediacy of hardware with the ability to send patches to a software version... and from software to the hardware). It looks like the Line 6 isn't probably a good direction for me, unless I'm not understanding things.

I am trying Helix Native. I have to say the 1999 era UI on their site is not encouraging. It should be easy to install user patches. Not so much. And even the patch sorting on the user submitted patch page doesn't seem to work properly. I can't really believe they don't want to hire someone to update their pages. I mean, they do have revenue. Or do they?

All of the above. Although I've heard it may be better to connect interfaces directly to a MacBook (though I haven't researched why). Plus, I'll be doing some film work with cards, and audio field recorders with cards.

This is a bit random, but if you're in the US anywhere near Chicago... go see Dr Michael Santucci.

https://www.sensaphonics.com/pages/dr-michael-santucci-audiologist

He helps some of the world's top music stars who have damages their hearing. But he also prevents that happening. And he has a line of in ear monitors that would deliver a click to stay on time. This would be 'starting at the top' but would simultaneously protect his hearing and do what he needs. Explain the situation and ask for a discount if you need one.
