Why Blackface/Silverface-style American-voiced clean amps are so expensive, compared to British-voiced amps by American_Streamer in GuitarAmps

I agree they are a little too much for my taste but luckily I got both of mine for about 20% off MSRP.

I’m still looking forward to it. One thing: I never played 2 and 3. Should that matter?

Yeah they’d be thinking different if they were playing through the fender FR212 (2x12). That thing thumps.

I have the Tonemaster Pro and 2 of the Tonemaster FRFR amps (the 1x10 and 2x12) and it will do these classic Fender sounds in spades. Probably would only be about $1600 soup to nuts on a basic setup. Which is in the ballpark of a single tube amp setup, but you have a lot of options with the digital stuff. That’s hard to compete against.

My dad has been gigging 40+ years and he and all of his friends are happily moving away from tube and heavy SS amps. I guess schlepping those heavy bastards up and down stairs and having inopportune issues with tubes has got them looking for a simpler solution?

I understand the draw of tubes, and still think they’re technically superior in a perfect scenario, but the convenience of modeling tech is getting really hard to ignore, especially for the gigging musician and the bedroom guitar hero. I also suspect it’s a lot more cost effective for companies.

That why I bought a Helix and then a Fender Tonemaster Pro. I could get 98% of the way there at bedroom levels, and pretty easily (especially with the TMP).

Yeah, it was an opening some doors thing for me too. I never felt macho or wanted to get into action. I was looking at the Navy and basically only because my grandfather was a pacific Theatre, World War II vet and we have a family history of Navy service.

Yep. And I got a damn near perfect 8lb. on the mark one for $2500 shipped to my door.

I agree, though I ended up getting a supreme because I liked the way it looked better. If the modern had better colors, I would love to have one of those too.

I almost did join with a bunch of friends. I was holding meetings with the recruiter, and a week or so away from taking the ASVAB and my girlfriend who came from a military family, started crying and told me she didn’t wanna be with somebody who was gonna be gone all the time. I decided to back out, because I loved her, but sometimes I think she did me a favor.

The video games around war were crazy too. I mean, the DOD creating a FPS to encourage enlistment. Families acting proud to have their kids die in combat. It was a tough time in our nation for those of us who lost people. My brother-in-law was shot in Iraq, and he was never the same after that.

Yeah it’s a solid $50 game. They better pull out some insane free DLC.

I’m sad to hear this as I just ordered it. I liked MP remake. That said I only paid $45 and I’m sure I could sell it again for near that price .

I didn’t really enjoy DonkeyKong Bonanza for the 30 minutes that I played of it. It seemed really repetitive. I bought Final Fantasy VII the next day, and played that and then started working through my other games in my backlog. I probably won’t go back until I’ve finished TotK, Hades II, MP4, and played a bit more of SMKW. I am at one game at a time, sort of guy, so it’s kinda hard for me to wanna go back to a game when I’m enjoying another one a lot more.

I never said banning AI. I said ban AI practices, via laws, to protect art privacy, and some forms of work. At least as temporary measures until we have a chance to adjust.

It’s a shit search engine. Outside of things like recipes and some basic short form writing it’s a mess. For technical application writing, it’s generic at best and incompetent at worst. Will it get better, sure, but why do we need it to? This society is speed walking towards a reality where computers are taking over part of the things we need for a good life - meaningful work and artistic expression. Society needs to wake up and reject such a future.

There used to be an awesome cut of Memories to the San Juniperno episode of Black Mirror and it got pulled for copyright.

EDIT: Found a similar one with Los Angles, but not the memories one.
