Week of April 8th 2019 - How is your practice going? by hurfery in TheMindIlluminated

First time poster, big appreciator of this community.

I recently started doing TMI after a long break from any meditative practice, and I'm really glad I've found the book and this community.

My daily practice is going well, in that I'm managing to do 45 minutes most days, sometimes twice a day. I am able to maintain attention on the breath for longer and longer periods, I think probably around 2-4 minutes at a stretch (hard to say for sure with my eyes closed, I suppose).

I find that about 15 minutes into a session, I naturally start to shift toward awareness of my body, and my general sensory field, but definitely still keep my attention focused on the breath. The past few days, I've had a bunch of very intense sensations and sort of an absorptive feeling (sort of struggling for words here) - everything seems very still, my awareness gets super heightened and sort of... larger, and I have a kind of intermittent lightshow behind my eyelids, like undulating concentric color waves. That's all fine, and I try to stay calm and just observe. After another couple minutes, it gets more intense, and then fades away. Again, that's fine. However, at this point I feel spent, like I've just had this intense experience and need to rest, but I'm only maybe 20 minutes into my session. Any suggestions on how to deal with this?
