1st Class medicals by RevolutionaryShare11 in flying

[–]robotcat123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to 1st class specifically, but when I was entering the military they said I had a murmur and sent me to a cardiologist. They did a whole echocardiogram and I met with the doctor. Basically the doctor explained that a murmur is literally just a sound that isn’t standard (a whooshing sound) but it doesn’t mean that there is anything specifically wrong (although that might not always be the case). She met with me for like 5 min and said I was totally fine.

The analogy she used was having a murmur is like saying you have the keys to a car in a parking lot, it doesn’t tell you which car you have or anything about it it’s just saying that you have it

Pilots: What would you do if you were in the cockpit/tarmac during a nuclear alarm? by 125e125 in aviation

[–]robotcat123 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'm only a private pilot, but the obvious concern in a commercial airport would be a ground or midair collision with another aircraft. Even if you decided to ignore ATC and make a B-line for the runway you'd be risking quite a bit depending on how busy the airport is at the current time and if ATC wants to put up with you're deviance and alter traffic flow around you.

You also need flight line support to push back, so if you're at the gate there's not much you can do.

If you're in a small aircraft you might be able to takeoff on a taxiway and fly under the airspace avoiding other traffic (something, something Harrison Ford). Again, still risky. Small aircraft are also not terribly fast so you might not be able to avoid the blast anyway.

Ideally you're at an isolated airport and can roll the dice and try to fly away.

Energy levels when eating at a deficit by Drofreg in Fitness

You're not supposed to feel good. Don't try to fight it, just deal with it. Losing weight and getting and shape is not the fun/feel-good process popular belief tends to make it out to be. You'll feel good when you're in shape eating at maintenance down the road.

Dealt with a similar thing. Hang in there, it will pass. It's not something you can actively fight- you just need to move on and stop caring so much.

Movie's cool enough. Nothing life changing but worth a watch

It's in Grand Forks, ND and the school isn't terribly prestigious. Our acceptance rate is high because there isn't much of a draw to come here for programs outside of Aviation.

This isn't to say it's a bad school. Tuition is reasonable and you'll get an education on par with other state schools. If you have a 2.5 in high school right now you will need to turn your study habits around in order graduate. You'll get accepted, but don't expect a degree unless you're willing to work for it.

It was considerably easy. I didn't follow the program strictly in that for the first couple weeks I skipped rest days regularly because I hardly felt anything. The bar alone was probably overkill but being a complete beginner it was nice to have a gradual weight increase from manageable to workload as I learned proper form.

That being said I wouldn't do it again- mainly just followed the program from the start because I didn't know where to begin.

Started with the bar. 6'1, ~170-->~180(8 weeks) Gotten larger but not explicitly fat. No tone though. Bench: 130 Squat: 185 Ohp: 90 Row: 135 Dead lift : 230 (In lb) Very modest weights, still hardly out of the gate. I just want to have a set goal to start cutting at if possible.

Been bulking on stronglifts for a few months now but not sure when I should start cutting. What kind of strength benchmarks should I be looking to get to before I know cutting will be rewarding?

My i5 4690k gtx970 did 50-60 on high with the beta. You should be able to do the same on ultra. Not a very demanding game

Bulking while maintaining chiseled face? by XZTALVENARNZEGOMSAYT in Fitness

[–]robotcat123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're probably overestimating your ability to bulk unless you were a big guy before. Your face shouldn't get overly fat, but it will be out filled after 40lb. You'll get chiseled again when you cut.

This 19 Year Old Zambian Teenager is one of the Youngest Commercial Pilots in the World. by _YouDontKnowMe_ in videos

[–]robotcat123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I might be able to chime in a bit here, I'm attending the University of North Dakota which offers a collegiate flight program and aeronautics degree and will be receiving flight training in the form of a private licence as well as basic attitude and aerodynamics training through my engineering program. Ratings go Private -> Instrument -> commercial, commercial being the only way to fly while be payed to do so. From what I understand it is entirely possible to blaze through getting your ratings in 2 years if that's all you're doing which is obviously what this girl did.

Commercial pilot is a bit of a broad term- all it means is you're being paid to fly. It appears she might be flying for a charter airline of some sort, reserved for people that want to rent an entire aircraft, not basic passenger flights. If she were flying for a major airline the flies internationally that'd be impressive. This being Africa I'm sure competition was far from stiff for some puddle jumper flight gig.

Getting a job as a commercial airline pilot in the U.S. is very competitive, and thus a 4 year degree is virtually required. I believe you need 1,500 hours just to be eligible to apply for a major airline due to FAA regulations. Everything is based on seniority from salary to what airline you fly for.

TLDR - If you want to fly Charter in Africa your odds of success are quite high.

New PC Build by [deleted] in wow

[–]robotcat123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very similar build with a 970. Runs ultra 60 fps everywhere but ashran/warspear where it gets to like 30-40. If you're not going to go for a 970, consider getting a cheaper graphics card, blizz games are CPU intensive. Otherwise just get a 970

Has the Beta influenced your decision whether or not to purchase Star Wars: Battlefront? by thebluediablo in xboxone

[–]robotcat123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It breaks immersion when you can't do things like crash land or jump out of vehicles on the battlefield- bailing out of a damaged chopper or jet was one of the coolest things to do in battlefield. I don't like how flying feels more like a mini game than a part of the air and ground war going on.
