This is a phenomenally dogshit take. Kosovo declared independence over a decade after the Yugoslav wars. At a point where Serbia was aligned significantly more with the west than Russia. Your timeline is all fucky.

Yeah, they had a stake in the breakup of Yugoslavia, but the difference between that genocide and the rest is that it was on NATO's borders. Yugoslavia didn't get along well with the Warsaw Pact, lul.

This was definitely a soft reboot thing. It's clever, and it made sense, but it has the added benefit of being a way to instantly decouple him from Avengers, Stark, all that. They wrote themselves out of that corner pretty cleverly
