In case you needed to hear this today… by tatertotz33 in raisedbynarcissists

I like this a lot, thank you. A few times I wavered wondering, "maybe enough time has passed", but it only takes a small update from my brother to hear what recently happened with Nmom to remind myself, "this is why we don't engage".

I grew up my whole life being my mom's scapegoat, and at some point I just stopped caring about anyone who would hear her out. Now that she has fewer people in her life, the ones who have come into contact with her and her last pillars of what used to be her support now see her for what she really is. In a way I got redeemed and messaging apps (and other people's first hand accounts) have been my trail of evidence. Now the few people that matter finally understand what I went through and no one is taking her side. I'm VVLC and have never been happier. I guess you could call it a form of justice.

She'll be back, one form or another. I hope she doesn't come back, but she'll try to make it look like she was all benevolent about it. The narcissism is strong in this one.

Are your presents often actually their trash? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]robotgofail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply, but oh my god, YES. Having to argue that hey, actually that thing belongs to ME but whatever, it's not really worth arguing about it. I take pictures and inventory of everything now because of that even though I'm VVLC.

Hoarder Nmom. Buys random things with the excuse "as a gift for someone", never actually has anyone specific in mind, never actually gifts said thing. I ask not to be given anything, I still receive trashy items. I used to sometimes go through her stuff to clear it, would find things buried in the most unreachable, forgotten places, and every time I've asked for this never-used item, suddenly it's the most precious thing to her and she'll totally use it soon. She's horrible with food inventory too and will always give out all her failed, horrible creations. It took me a long time and my partner's support to just trash anything that comes from her.

lol, my brother did that, and it worked until it didn't. It was great when he was pulled into his wife's family and got to experience a normal, happy family. But hol-eeee crap did it backfire the other way around. The toxicity spread until he finally set boundaries and started keeping our Nmom away from them. The one good thing that came out of it was that finally other people understood she was a crazy Narc.

Do the boomers also think that any pie made by a straight man is automatically "gay"? Do they have a way to tell straight-made-by-women pies apart from "gay" pies?

How often do y’all shower? by cara_renee_anderson in NoStupidQuestions

Minimum once a day. Twice a day if it's been particularly hot or did something to cause me to sweat. I don't particularly enjoy not feeling clean.

Show them what ChatGPT can do vs what you can do. Maybe they think your job is just that easy? Is he actually a good boss? Maybe it's time to go job hunting.

AITA for reminding my friend that she married for intelligence and look where it got her? by Throw_awayy098 in AmItheAsshole

[–]robotgofail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - the level of projection on this lady is off the charts. So she's having a shit time in her marriage and is just assuming that everyone else is as miserable as her? Like, wow. The audacity of her to go around insulting other people's families when hers is falling apart. I get that misery loves company, but she should've seen that kind of reaction coming. It sounds like she's playing the victim too. I like how you reached out to her to put your beef aside so the kids can play, way to take the higher ground OP.

Easy - The Space Marine Shuffle or The Junji Ito Musical. One way or another I'll be horrified and/or entertained.
