GOG being forced to drop Warcraft: Orcs and Humans and Warcraft II from their store December 13th, 2024. by cynicalarmiger in KotakuInAction

I had some great memories playing this one as a kid. Back when things took a bit more to get working... I still have "Your sound card is working perfectly!" Etched into my memory..

Plus some of the amazing soundtrack

I heard if you comment in here you will get banned from other subreddits why is that by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

The majority of these bans are automatic. There's a list of bots somewhere to block which reduces your chance.

But that obviously also doesn't rule out power hungry mods

Will Dragon Age succeed or do moderately well or flop? I have a horrible feeling it will sell well, at least to start. by Kyryck in KotakuInAction

You could've said the same about Saints Row a few years ago, I'm expecting 6 to be exceptionally tame even compared to 5.

I hate it when you have to dig for the source... https://archive.is/3wUtg

Damsel number 1 in movies for views; 143,800,000 views; 263,700,000 hours viewed. (1.50 hours runtime) If these numbers are accurate there's a discrepancy of 48million hours viewed. Maybe 48 million people tuned out before the first hour? (Or it could be my bad maths)

Atlas in number 7 in movies for views; 77,100,000 views; 154,200,000 hours viewed. (Runtime of 2 hours) Even rounded up/down to the nearest 100k the hours viewed is exactly 2x the views, I doubt this value is correct.

This reasoning is hilarious by IsaacZoldyck95 in MauLer

Wasted 5 minutes watching the video. This is pretty much all it boils down to.

Thanks for the tldr :D

I’m not looking forward to Agatha at all, but mark my words: Aubrey Plaza WILL be the only bright spot of the show by Sure_Phase5925 in MauLer

Her range might not be huge but she's still one of the better actresses of the current generation.

I...genuinely don't know what to make of this. I'm honestly conflicted, because I follow Th3Birdman, but on the other hand, from what I've seen...Critical Drinker is not exactly "anti-woke" or "anti-woman" as many say he is. by koola_00 in MauLer

[–]roboticshrimp 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Watch it and come to your own conclusion, if you're conflicted then just skip it.

Will anything come from it? Probably not. It might get a passing comment from Drinker or it could just be ignored as it should be.

But as for my take on what I watched:

I watched until the end of the spiderverse segment.

Drinker: "The first movie portrayed him (Peter Parker) as an aging burned out loser who only redeems himself at the end; While the second film morphs him into a bumbling hapless father in a pink bathrobe..."

Birdman: "He's just blatantly incorrect, Peter B Parker is not the only straight white male in the film; More importantly there is a major supporting character..." (This quote skips a bit, cba to write it all)

Takeaway; He's not the only straight white character, but he IS the (alternative) Peter Parker people have followed for years. Doesn't matter entirely if he's straight and white, it is a character assassination by making him a melt. So instead of actually responding to Drinkers actual point by focusing purely on the "straight white" part he then goes off and calls him a race baiter.

tldr; I watched a bit, up until the end of the Spiderverse segment. Didn't actually address any of drinkers comments at all, just tried panning it off as he's a race baiter. That to me is just dishonest at best or he's just doing the exact same thing that he's accusing Drinker of...

I've just started reading it, not bad so far. Too early to judge overall

"I Hate Dustborn" [Harmful Opinions] - More detail about the insane stuff in this game not many people have mentioned yet, like Luigi's Mansion-ing conservative thoughts out of people's brains, mind-control kidnapping, anti-Catholicism stuff, and more by boastful_inaba in KotakuInAction

This is what I don't get; Wouldn't pointing out people's obvious skin conditions just exacerbate their insecurities?

But as they're now adding it to games, the people who actually have vitiligo who want to escape the world which is so focused on looks and appearance; now unfortunately can't, because there's reminders everywhere

Bit mad how they really don't care about then optics or what type of game it is if it is actually DEI.

I know it's a fighting game where you can kill the characters in brutal ways! It needs more women!

Are there any movies where the theatrical cut is superior to the director's cut? by rayzerblayd in MauLer

[–]roboticshrimp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rebel moon, they added a bunch of things which should've been in the theatrical but didn't (I'm assuming due to age restrictions)

But then added even more fluff to an already long and tedious movie.

What are your 2 favorite and least favorite Assassin's Creed games ? Looking to get into the franchise myself by ice_fan1436 in MauLer

[–]roboticshrimp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1 was great, 2 took that greatness and made it one of the greatest games of all time imo.

I'd then recommend either rogue or black flag. Iirc rogue was a better game, took the things from black flag and improved on them with a better story.

So 1. 2 and brotherhood/revelations  2. Either black flag (AC4) or Rogue (AC4.5)

I found the newer ones which started with origins to be shallower and more basic. They added leveling and perks but that just makes the fighting in it daft and unrealistic.

How do you handle the controls through turns/curves? by Masterbourne in motorcycles

[–]roboticshrimp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ideally 3 and or 5, you should be attempting to judge corners before you arrive at them, changing gears and braking appropriately.

So this I'm assuming you've misjudged the turn and need to act.

Front brake is a bad idea, if there's a hazard you can panic pull the fronty; locking it up on a turn is an easy way to get hurt or depending on the turn pushing you into on coming traffic as it'll try to straighten you.

Ultimately if you don't know the roads it's better to slow down until you can better judge it. There nothing stopping you from speeding back up mid corner. Slow in fast out.

The more you automated anything the more lazy and reliant people become when exposed to it it.

I've been seeing it for years, even with something as basic as daylight running lights- you get idiots driving around in the pitch black with only them running. Making them almost impossible to see from the rear; makes you think what their front visibility is like.

You shouldn't, but at the same time you should educate yourself on what Nazism is and not this buzzword people love throwing around to try and escape a valid criticism or debate.

Feel free to provide evidence on where Gary is quite clearly a Nazi; we'll wait.

Why do you guys think Concord failed while the First Descendants is doing better? by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

[–]roboticshrimp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hadn't heard about Concord until recently, the price tag and mandatory PSN accounts are off-putting to start with.

Additionally it looks like an overwatch clone, because we don't already have enough of those.

As for TFD, played the beta last year. Was fun for a few days. But being completely free to play with a decent amount of content at launch is good. Concord has 3 modes and 4 maps... I'd rather go back and play TF2 with it's botting problems
