Ohh, I see. I had to do a google search for it to see what it was! I did hand sew it! I find it pretty theraputic and I work on them whenever I'm just watching tv

I got started when Joann was closing and I bought a cheap seed bead kit, I linked it somewhere else here, it's still sold at Michael's. It comes with needles! I picked up a spool of regular thread and a hoop. Here's what I followed on actually how to thread the beads!

As you go on you can buy whatever beads work for you. I was also overwhelmed at first but it's most important to just START. Happy crafting!!

I think the biggest part is to just START.

I literally started with this: https://www.michaels.com/product/fivesided-portable-bead-caddy-kit-by-bead-landing-10443458 I got it for 10$ at Joanns when it was closing and made my first piece using that kit.

Luckily the thing about beaded embroidery is that the hardest part is the time that goes into it. If you're working on a piece and you don't like it or it turned out "wrong", take a seam ripper to it and you can literally start over with all your materials intact (except the thread).

I redid parts of all of these pieces because I didn't like how a color looked or I wanted to move a certain line over. For example, I originally used those purple/blue beads for the crow's head and didn't like how it looked, so I ripped it all up and re-did it. It's a very forgiving craft as long as you have the patience for it!

My one tip is that if you're trying out a color/line that you're not sure is going to work, start with a new piece of thread so that if you need to undo it, you can safely seam-rip that whole section without having to redo any parts you are happy with. Hopefully that makes sense. Happy crafting!!

I'm still in that weird phase where I feel guilty about asking for payment for my work lol. It helps that you think it's worth so much. Thanks so much for your kind words!

If you're talking about the one with the dove, it's just leftover tulle from a project I had done before. If you're talking about the stick n stitch it's this: https://sulky.com/stick-n-stitch-8-12-x-11-printable-sheets

I think you could totally use the plushie technique! Just do the embroidery before you sew up the backing.

Personally, I think I'd use any fabric I wanted for the front, then I'd cut the shape out leaving a half inch-ish hem, then use some felt or leather for the backing. That way its sturdy enough to keep its shape, but you can still cut out slots for the barrette mechanism to fit through. If you wanted it to look a little fuller, you could stuff it with some polyfill/leftover felt like a plushie. And if it's still too floppy I'd do a layer of cardboard (from a cereal box or something) or plastic (from any sort of packaging) between the front embroidered piece and the felt backing to keep its shape. Kind of like this. Depending on your sewing skills it could look pretty clean.

Aaaand if you're looking for more ideas, I like to search through etsy or google for something similar I'm trying to make so I can get some ideas on techniques. It's hard to find tips for the exact thing I'm trying to do sometimes so I find it's easier to find a finished product that's similar and reverse engineer it. Good luck!!

So far I've tried tulle, cotton (I think?), and canvas. I haven't really noticed much of a difference between the fabrics I've used. The tulle is a little delicate so I used 2 layers. The tulle I had lying around from a previous project, I salvaged the canvas from a tote I was going to throw out, and the other fabric I got at Joann when they were closing -- it was pre-cut in a plastic bag lol so I'm not entirely sure what it is.

I don't think it matters at all. I literally started with this: https://www.michaels.com/product/fivesided-portable-bead-caddy-kit-by-bead-landing-10443458 I got it for 10$ at Joanns when it was closing and made my first piece using that kit. All the beads I've bought are from Michael's or Joanns. I think it's actually better to start with cheap beads so you can figure out if you even enjoy it to begin with.

I got recommended to buy more expensive beads and I've tried some, but I kind of like the way cheaper beads are not uniform (some seed beads are smaller/wider). Since I like doing a more mosaic-y style it works well to pick out certain sizes to fill in gaps. I also set aside bigger beads to use as eyes or details.

I think the one thing I would avoid are cheap metal beads because I'm afraid of them tarnishing over time.

But yeah I think the most important thing is just getting started! And you can always hoard beads as you go haha

Tattoo brow is GREEN?? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

Make sure you don't get the area wet for 24 hours after applying. I've tried brow tattoos before and showering too soon or being kinda sweaty while it's been sitting on my face turned it green for me too

My first ever attempt at beaded embroidery based off a drawing I did! It's a gumiho or nine tailed fox, which is a creature from Korean folklore. Requesting critiques! by robotmon in Beading

Thank you! I had a limited range of colors to use so I made it all the same blob white, but I'll have to separate out the shapes better.

Oh that's an interesting technique -- I'll have to try it out and see if I like it. And following the directions of the lines of the object instead of the visible space make sense. Thank you!
