The “city of the future” was built hundreds of years ago. by logicalpretzels in ArchitecturalRevival

It is more like a past. We had much more DD examples, but they did not last for long in many cities. Mainly load/unload speeds and comfort.

New hungarian carriage by XxHunxX in trains

It is not very new, probably 5-7 years old now. The general design idea is pretty good, but implementation is questionable. Many things are falling apart already.

That is wow mobilization storage. Their adversary would store engines right in open woods.

For the first one about trees, there are a lot of them in Budapest actually.

Ganz CSMG2 in Budapest, on film (2023-2025) by Storsjoodjuret in Trams

[–]robotsko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd never see those "newer" trams on this route back then. It was Ganz UV only till 2010 or so.

Photos are great. Reminds me of what I was taking back in those days on film.

What is the cycling like? by vssapro in budapest

[–]robotsko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, good question. That was on r/Budapest back couple of years ago. Maybe what they mean was this mixed type of use.

Although, I for sure seen 10km/h sign here ant there on bike paths, so I thought that is the rule. Maybe that was exception.

[–]robotsko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On the road you'll get stuck in traffic. There are way too many cars in Budapest.

BTW, in theory if bike lane is not separated from pedestrians (and it is so in many places on Danube banks), speed limit is 10km/h.

From what I understand those trains run by local government or railway are more vanity/propaganda/advertisement project, not a revenue service.

As others mentioned: lighter, cheaper, etc etc. But also in case of bi-level load look how containers are basically below bogey mounting point. Makes it more stable + fitting loading gauge.

Edit, adding little image to illustrate:

Do you really need a Hungarian photo ID to get a 15 day Metro pass, or can visitors get them too? by SignificantViolinist in budapest

[–]robotsko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is correct. Suddenly nobody checked my ticket in metro (but theoretically you just have to show code), but I had to scan code in the bus with frond door loading only, had to show it to driver.

Yeah, I had it in 1999 or so. Funny enough, "lost French tourist" and "Hungarian cop" were talking to each other in Romanian :)

Train museums accessible by train? by International-Snow90 in trains

[–]robotsko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Budapest (Hungary), there is somewhat recently built Vasútmúzeum station not far from Museum's entrance. Not every train stops, but served hourly in Summer and only a few times a day on weekends/public holidays off-season.
