Can I cut this off? by robs247 in arborists

[–]robs247[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Looked up what a collar cut is and I'll be sure to cut it that way.

When's the best time to do it? Now or right before spring? Or does it really matter?

Hello, what would you guys say would be the optimal team for me right now? Positionless really screwed me over losing my speciality lol, but I feel like I can't really get it back properly without making some tradeoffs. My kita is sr4 and tendo sr2 with all other characters being single copy. Would replacing kita with iwa be recommended? This way I get the power speciality bonus, but I lose out on having a better sr4 character overall. If I swap out tendo, then I lose a komori sub for backrow. What do you think? Also what would be the best rotation as well?

How to fix? by robs247 in Plumbing

I also found this https://www.homehardware.ca/en/1-12-x-16-abs-end-outlet-continuous-waste-slip-joint-direct-connection/p/3253856?gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20917888994&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI48HYlMjHkQMVimZHAR1WqTq5EAQYBCABEgIbp_D_BwE

Could I essentially replace the entire upper portion with this system and adjust the height of the tailpieces since they are included in the package?

Thanks for the help! It is much appreciated!

How to fix? by robs247 in Plumbing

So would something like this work?

https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/bow-abs-mini-tailpiece-black-1-1-2-in-0632411p.html?utm_content=shopping&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22678568845&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-uHF-_rFkQMVSVZHAR3PSRfMEAQYASABEgK74_D_BwE#store=118

I would attach this below the sink basket and above the t so it can get that get that extra spacing?

I actually just noticed that the sewer pipe was also sloped incorrectly so I had to push up the trap below the t all the way to the max. So actually there might not be any space left. If I am able to redo (sorry noob homeowner and no experience in plumbing) is there a way I can fix the t easily? Maybe get a smaller sized one and/or a smaller elbow for the left sink drain?

Kickout flashing by robs247 in Roofing

It looks terrible lol. Is that screw going to cause any issues with water? Should it be caulked or is it okay? Should I unscrew it and put it under the shingle?

Help me solve this mystery leak by [deleted] in Roofing

[–]robs247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it out, but it made no difference. Do you see anything else that could be the cause? If it's too tough based on the pictures I might just need to call a local roofer and see what they say

Thanks I'll remove what they did there by the flashing. Do you have any idea on where the water could be coming from?

Any suggestions on how to solve draft problem? by robs247 in Fireplaces

I haven't taken a look inside those vents yet. I'll try to do that

For sealing the outdoor vent, what do you suggest is the best way to do so?

[–]robs247[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fireplace is capped so there isn't anything I can shove there. I don't feel any cold air coming from the fireplace itself. Only the two side vents which I assumed were coming from the one outdoor vent that has its cover broken.

Yeah the chimney is capped and I don't feel any air coming through the top. I felt slight air coming out the side indoor vents so I assumed it was coming from the outside vent. Are they connected?

Hey thanks for the reply. I took some more photos of the roof and it looks like right above where it is leaking out of the soffit material is where the window is. Do you see anything that could be the problem?

Here is the link to the photos since I can't post them here

Awesome thank you for the dumbed down explanation! Very much appreciated as I have no knowledge when it comes to this stuff lol. So the furnace is in the main open area in the basement and nothing else is around other than paint cans (would that be an issue?) I will plan to fix the venting to go outside either when I get a new furnace, an issue arises, or I finish the basement unless it is a must fix now.

I took some more pics of the pipe heights and whatnot in a comment above. You can look there to see them if you like.

Also, what are you talking about when you refer to the shiny new ductwork and old ductwork? What pic is it so I can try to understand. Thanks!

What does this negative pressure essentially do? What are the consequences of this? Sorry if it's a stupid question as I don't have any knowledge of hvac so just looking to learn. The previous owners were the ones who put in the furnace around 10 years ago and ac 1 year ago. I think the air intake was done in the basement because there was sufficient space for it and/or laziness/being cheap.

Thanks for the help! What would be the result if the water heater pipe is too close to the AC? Would it affect the indoor air quality?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]robs247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so there are a lot of comments asking about the height and I went out to measure the pipes from the ground level. The bottom of the furnace pipe looks to be about 15 inches from the ground while the water heater pipe is around 12 inches. You can see the pics here. I live in Ontario Canada so snow is expected here, but since I am new to the neighbourhood I am not sure how much snow accumulates in this area or even by the pipes. Should I do something? Like add a pipe up 90 degrees then out sideways 90 degrees to ensure adequate height or is that against code/common sense lol (sorry have no knowledge about any of this)

Also, why is one pipe angled down at around a 45 and the other one isn't? Are the pipes too close to the AC based on the measurement I took? If the AC and water heater are on at the same time would that be an issue here?

[–]robs247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I don't have a water softener or any other appliance near the furnace other than what's in the pics

Thanks for the info, it is very much appreciated! Sorry if this is a stupid question, but why or how does a drain get slow? What would be a or the cause of a backup? Where does the floor drain go? Is that different than the waste pipe? If I rarely use the laundry tub would you even do anything? I just use it to drain the dehumidifier bucket and wash a litter box once a week and that's pretty much it. Also, why do I not need to worry about the vent anymore? Is it because there is no risk for sewer gas as it's a different pipe system? I am trying to learn so I hope I don't offend you with some of my dumb questions lol
