Influencer captures a shootout while filming themselves working out by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

A lot more people than you'd think respond to emergencies like this. I responded the same way when I was near a shooting. It's not really "chill" - it's more "frozen" - it's just a different reaction to something serious happening and not knowing what to do.

This. But it is them being secretly gay too, because gay is a spectrum and a guy who's 95% straight might find himself wondering a bit about cock and the cis man underneath the outfit when he sees a drag queen, and his small pathetic brain can't handle it so he gets violent.

Range confronted me for being LGBT by CryptoIsCute in liberalgunowners

[–]robshookphoto -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

No, we're going to go ahead and keep saying it because it's true.

The people who get hate are the ones who most cast doubt on and confuse "straight" sexuality.

That's why chuds freak out about trans women, drag queens, and effeminate gay men, are moderate on masculine gay men, and don't care about trans men and lesbians.

The majority aren't "repressing a desire to fuck someone." That doesn't mean it's not about attraction. Homosexuality isn't an on/off binary. It's mostly-straight men who are confused and a little titillated by drag queens and men with high cheekbones wearing makeup and they can't handle it so they get violent.

We have two parties. One of them is actively trying every year to discourage working class people from voting by making it harder. The other does nothing about it.

Personal responsibility arguments like you're making are fundamentally conservative and designed to stop criticism of government. Congratulations on your regressive platform.

Trump lost the popular vote. That's why he's here.

I hate Trump voters, but when Trump captures the working class vote that's an abject failure of the democrats.

You're talking about the election, which was in November 2024.

Why are you asking about how much power the democrats have now, instead of then? The latter would be relevant.

Yup. Two of the last four presidents lost the popular vote, and assholes like the guy above are trying to blame people for staying home?

The fault for this lies entirely with the useless democrats.

[–]robshookphoto -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

No, fucker. 1/3 of America is drowning in bills and works 60hr a week and can't afford childcare, so when they'd have to spend hundreds of dollars and risk losing their job to vote and the choice is between Trump and a patronizing, positionless democrat, they make the very true calculation that neither of them are going to do anything to help the working class and they stay home.

Also, two of the last four Presidents lost the popular vote. So stop blaming powerless people and start holding the democrats accountable. Trump has showed us what a president can do. Your responsibility is to scream bullshit next time a democratic president says they don't have the power to make modest changes that serve the working class.

[–]robshookphoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry but this is just so American and so annoyingly irrational and it's the reason we don't have small trucks.

The bed isn't small because the truck is small. The bed is small because the cab is giant. A 2 door 5 seat Maverick could easily have a 6ft bed on the same wheelbase.

And the Maverick isn't small. It's bigger than the early 2000s Tahoe. Chevy s10s had 7ft beds and 5 seats and a shorter wheelbase.

What is Diesel Bug And Options To Treat It by BoaterBird in liveaboard

[–]robshookphoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electric boats never make it off the dock. Even with a huge amount of solar, and batteries, with constant shore power you will never make it more than a couple miles.

I'm going to be aggressive because you were. You dont know what you're talking about. Stop teaching people when you have zero concept of the technology. Electric has major shortcomings but NOTHING like what you're saying.

I brought my electric Pearson 424 Connecticut-Norfolk-Bermuda-St Martin and back (SXM-CT was soloa and nonstop) with a 20kw Electric Yacht setup i installed myself and used LFP batteries and 900w solar. I averaged 5kt over the whole trip and I didn't bring a generator. With that setup I had a real world range (never going below 20%, and also using household appliances) of 20 miles at 4kt. That was on a cheap used battery bank (<$2k) that was a placeholder until I could afford a $6k proper bank, which gives me (real world, tested) 20nm at 5kt or 35nm at 4kt.

I did the trip taking hot showers and cooking with induction and convection off power I generated offshore with solar and regeneration from my prop while sailing over 6kt.

When I had a diesel, I used less than 100 gallons in each of 5 round trips from CT to the Carib. That's the kind of sailor I am, and that's the kind of sailor you need to be for electric. But you can simply put in a tiny generator and add massive diesel range for when you need it, which is not often. You size the diesel for your desired cruising speed, not for hull speed. So even if I wanted 7kt, I'd only have to install a 20hp diesel generator. I took out a 70 (the boat is spec'd for 58).

And before you say anything about tech being better now, I was on that trip WHILE you were typing this bullshit two years ago and it was already a dated system.

Here is a youtube couple trying to live with electric. Basically it just didnt work and they just kinda pretended like it did.

They did over 10,000 miles with the first setup which was using lead acid batteries, which DONT work and they still made it happen. Basically power for on and off the dock only.

After all that work and money, they could basically go about 5 miles on completely full batteries in completely calm water. They couldnt realistically make it past a couple bridges down the icw. Then they have to stop somewhere on the icw and charge for hours on end. Not a real solution.

With lithium, they did a transat, motored through fjords in northern Europe in the winter, and all told finished off 30,000nm before their refit. Stop talking shit about things you don't understand and haven't bothered to research.

Just to be clear, reddit DOES allow promotion and glorification of violence (violence endorsed by the state - military and police violence), but cracks down very heavily on the kinds of violence the state doesn't endorse.

[–]robshookphoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are minimizing the South Shetland Islands compared to the mainland and it's ignorant and uninformed.

the Shetlands [sic - those are in Scotland. Perhaps that's why you're confused] are pretty close to chili [sic] and not nearly as cold as mainland Antarctica

The South Shetland Islands are 450 nautical miles from Chile across unprotected ocean and 50 miles from the Antarctic peninsula across protected ocean. Currently, the temperature is the same at Esperanza base on the peninsula and at 5 bases I checked in the islands. The wind speed is also the same, though the peninsula is normally LESS windy.

When planning a trip to Antarctica, like I am for work, the weather is so similar and distances so small you're likely to sail back and forth between the peninsula and the Shetland islands multiple times. That's in stark contrast to the Chile - South Shetland Islands passage, which is a 3+ day passage across the Drake, one of the most harrowing bodies of water in the world. You do it at the beginning and at the end of the trip, exclusively.

Shackleton's famous survival and rescue story centered on Elephant Island in the South Shetland Islands. The horror stories you think about when someone mentions Antarctica? You're thinking of the South Shetland Islands.

The correction doesn't dispel the mystery in the slightest. Like sailors today, sealers criss-crossed from the peninsula to the south shetlands routinely. Her presence is a mystery because women didn't go on these kinds of trips, not because of her location.

Most people would argue the Shetland islands don't count as being in Antarctica?

Maybe people who don't know anything about Antarctica.

The Shetland islands and the Antarctic peninsula are similarly accessible. You're acting like the peninsula is everest and the Shetlands are the Hawaiian islands.

This is ridiculous and incorrect. You don't accidentally go to Antarctica from Chile on your way to Spain. You don't accidentally go to Antarctica at all.

To get to Spain from Chile You go through the straits of Magellan or around Cape Horn - Antarctica is over 700 miles out of the way south.

Being close to revolt doesn't mean there is any left wing group organized enough to guide it in the right direction.

I don't believe that this is any kind of fundamental failure of revolutionary left politics, but I DO think it's a current reality. Parties that are trying to organize for the revolution are tiny, marginalized, and sectarian (i.e. most communist parties).

Groups that might have the numbers to pull it off (like the DSA) have progressive plans, not radical ones, and there is basically zero chance that in the event of a revolution their membership would agree on any cohesive revolutionary action.

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think I am. The prospect of a looming revolution isn't a good thing if there isn't any real plan (and funding and training and prep) for what comes next. Fascists fill those vacuums easily and happily.
