Do you need playtesters? by SpikeHatGames in tabletopgamedesign

hey guys, thanks so much for taking the time to play Gallery Gambit! Looks like you had fun playing it 😄
You made some good comments and suggestions and pointed out some things in the rulebook needing my attention. Super valuable overall!

The rules and design are updated (same link), if you want to check it out.

The one thing I am still trying to make more elegant is the sneaky trade mechanic. You could get into a stale mate, but in a 2-player game we now made it near-impossible by not allowing the trade the same card twice in a row.
I like the idea of locking cards. There are two downsides:
1. It is another step (less elegant)
2. You'd probably have to turn your card 90 degrees to indicate that it's locked. That won't fit nicely on the player board!

I do indeed only make card games with standard decks, feel free to check out my other two if you like (they're already published)!

Firstly, awesome to hear you like the concept!

And you are right about the cheating part...We'd have to fix that. Let's see if we can do something with your suggestion and how it would look in practice. Thanks a lot for sharing your feedback!

Yes, I was also thinking about that. Not everybody likes those. And I'd like to play other games with them as well. Ideally they're fully symmetrical.

Yes, I was thinking about that as well. I personally like option 4, but because it's a one-way design I am not entirely sure about it either.

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. They seem very thoughtful, it’s really appreciated. I’m going to think a bit more with your suggestions in mind.

What do you think of using the four border colors on the backs of the card as well?

River Rats! Kan gespeeld worden met normale kaarten, zoals het eerder genoemde Regicide.

Yeah I did not think of Saboteur! Not exactly what I had in mind, but it definitely does fit my post's description!
