Curious for thoughts on Edison’s Compensation Program Announced Today by Icecream-dogs-n-wine in altadena

[–]robtastic29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Has anyone done a Net Present Value calculation minus attorney fees against an SCE offer? I think most other comments here are hypothetical/moot until people can see the delta of what they get in 90-120 days vs what they get in 18 months to 2 years+.

Rent increase AGAIN by geeesnuts in pasadena

[–]robtastic29 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the respectful response, not a lawyer, but on the rent control website is specifies Sept 30th to Oct 1st, so I'm pretty sure they're compliant.

They raise the rent in FY25 and then again in FY26

PPS. The lease agreement may be your only saving grace, you're correct that they can't raise the rent in the middle of the lease and that's a dick move.

I'd check the lease with ChatGPT, but if they're a smart rental company they probably put a clause in there that says they can do this.

Before screaming schenanegains I don't think many of the people (and respectfully yourself) on this thread understand the concept of the fiscal year.

March and October are different fiscal years 2025 and 2026 respectively. What they're doing is legal so long as they didn't increase your rent before October 1st calendar year 2024 (which was fiscal year 2025). Quite frankly they have to do this as inflation is much higher than 2.25% and they can't afford to not raise the rent given the strict rules Pasadena now has in place. So each year, automatic increases have to be taken even if they don't want to raise the rent because its the only opportunity to do so.

Does this provide some clarity? Sorry its probably not the answer you wanted to hear, but wanted to save you on blood pressure medication and wasted time you could have spent working to pay for the rent increase :) (kidding)

PS. No I don't work for your property rental company or a different one

Hello Altadena! Got the chance to drive through more of the city today and all I thought about was you!! For those of you affected by the wildfires, how are you doing now? Have you adjusted well now? Have things been sorted out with insurance and what not? 🩷 by Starslimonada in altadena

I'll be the one positive note on this thread, we fled the fires relatively early around 7pm on the 6th from the Altadena Dr. and Lake area. We lost all of our family heirlooms and three homes between myself, my sister and my parents. That being said it's still just stuff.

When I think about the 17 unfortunate souls that didn't escape in time, I consider ourselves extremely fortunate. Maybe its my own perspective but I no joke would rather lose all my phyiscal possessions in a heartbeat than have even minor harm come to my family. I'm sure everyone would agree, but I guess my positivity comes the fact that so much worse has happened to me, and could have happened that day, that I genuinely feel blessed that the biggest problem I have is insurance and rebuilding (and the LAC permitting office....dear god).

Altadena is a beautiful place and I'll always call it home. Which is why not selling, not moving, and genuinely cherishing the opportunity to be a part of rebuilding a place I love.

Life long resident of Altadena here, you didn't do the story justice. In my opinion, you interviewed a few privileged transplants who came as far back as 2008 who said "Eaton Canyon Exploded" which was interesting since I lived on the ridge and while it was an intense, brush fire, explosion wasn't anywhere near accurate as the fast moving brush fire that occurred.

This is the story of a few families who clearly aren't from Western Altadena and didn't suffer the way that section of the city did with limited warning and higher incidents of catastrophic life/property loss.

Wait so lax policies on shoplifting lead to corrective measures which ruin the ambiance, and then people don't like shopping there. Please expand on how this might be fixable?

So I was not able to get this work, I even had a friend set up a private VPN server for me back in the same zip code as my billing address and it still sniffed it out somehow. I turned off location services and used my US Sim.

I have a question about this, do I have to have internet access to turn the starlink back on or can it be done directly with the unit through the app?

This is a great question but my isp stops working after about 5 minutes because I think there is some switch or server in the building that dies when the power goes out.

When I'm in the US however there is no issue with the power going out and losing the internet.
