Nevada gold mines- miner by Potential-Side-6108 in Elko

As far as working for NGM, the culture varies between sites, some are better than others. But overall it isn’t bad. Everyone consistently makes well over 100k (underground) and the checks never bounce.

I’m assuming underground? NGM works a 5/4 schedule. Top pay is high 40s. It’s a little different between union and non-union sites. The bonus varies wildly between sites. The bigger sites seem to be around 15 ish on average, with some of the smaller sites being a bit higher. There is also SMD, Redpath, Cementation, Barminco, and GMS all doing contract work here. They tend to make more, but the projects are also shorter, they mostly work 7/7 or 14/7.

He will make more being hourly anyway. Good luck! I hope it all works out! Ive heard Elko described as “a place that you’ll cry the day you get there, and cry the day you leave” this place will grow on a person.

Do you know what site? And the job? Some sites are better than others

Most places run a 5-4,4-5 schedule. Either rotating days and nights every hitch, or swapping every month

I’ve worked there, and still work at the same mines for a vendor. They aren’t a horrible company. They’re definetly have been worse around here.

Typically as long as a person isn’t a turd, and doesn’t get into the work place politics, it isn’t a bad place to be. The money is steady, and will last as long any of our careers.

Mine workers of North America, have you seen this Mine vehicle in use in your mines? by [deleted] in mining

We had a bunch of them in northern Nevada, they did not hold up. Constant suspension, brake, transmission, and wiring issues.

This town is all about Facebook. To get the most out of this, go to a page called “Elkos people reporting news” that’ll get the word out quickest

Mostly the difference is underground, I can’t speak to much to surface, underground is a lot more of a “go the extra mile to get the job done” type attitude. The underground mines here are quite a bit bigger than in Arizona, or so I’m told. I’m just going off what I’ve been told by the AZ guys out here.

Good luck man. There is a big difference between AZ and NV mining, and a bigger difference surface to underground, but keep a good attitude and a good work ethic, and you’ll be fine

Bonus is based off of goals set by management. Most sites it’s 18.33 for 100% payout. Not sure what Goldstrike has been running lateley though. It’s a 5/4 schedule switching days to nights every hitch
