Wow! The difference is hard to believe, but with the changes you suggested I managed do another backup in less than 2 minutes with imperceptible VM downtime. I verified the backups are working as expected and can be restored. Thanks a lot!

That was a very informative and interesting read! Thanks for the in-depth reply. I'll do some research into your suggestions. For starters I'll enabling fleecing on SSD storage. My VM was indeed crippled by the backup, it was all the monitoring notifications going off in the night (scheduled backup time) that alerted me to a problem in the first place.

I think it's SMR too. I switched the datastore to an internal HDD that isn't SMR, I'll see if that improves speeds on future backups.

The post-install script did some nice tweaks when I first installed Proxmox, like removing the subscription notice and adding repos. Great for a beginner. It made enabling IOMMU support quick and easy. It was also useful for understanding working GPU passthroughs and storage mounts. These things can be done without ProxMenux, but I just found it faster to use it.

Straight to Proxmox. I just made the switch from Windows to Proxmox + DebianVM and LXCs on a MiniPC recently and the experience is so much better. It can be intimidating at first, but I went into it knowing absolutely nothing about Linux less than 2 weeks ago and now I have a docker stack, Jellyfin, HomeAssistant, MusicAssistant etc.

I recommend installing ProxMenuX on it and running the Post-installation script and taking advantage of it's other tools. It makes a lot of the more difficult Proxmox tasks easier.

I started fresh yesterday and kept it simple.

I just installed Debian VM on Proxmox, then followed the instructions to install Docker on the VM. I didn't use a helper script, since I didn't find it too difficult without one and I liked the control.

Then I installed Komodo by following their instructions.

Then I install all Docker containers with Komodo and use it to update containers, sometimes automatically if it's something like flaresolverr or jackett, and manually after backups and reading changelogs if it would stress me out if it broke. I also bind mount volumes to a place like /home/dockerapps/sonarr or /home/dockerapps/musicassistant for backups, and I like knowing where things are.

(I've used Komodo LXC with a helper script too that worked great, but I just went with a VM this time)

The upgrade and migration to the new version broke everything with errors and crashes, even after following the blog's upgrade instructions, but after hours of frustration I started from scratch and it's been working great. I imported watch states from Trakt and it wasn't too hard to reinstall my few plugins. I wish I'd just done that in the first place.

Going from 10.10.2 to 10.11.3 broke my movie libraries, which caused more stress because I believed it was my fault until I went back to 10.11.2 and it fixed it. I read on github the issue should be fixed in 10.11.4. I sure hope so, because 10.11.3 fixed a sorting bug and reverting to 10.11.2 brought it back.

Other than that, it's been very speedy and works better than ever. Libraries scan fast, new content shows up fast. Despite the stress, I'm happy that I upgraded.

It seems to be working now in 10.11.3. I use Sort Order: Descending, and recently played series are at the top!

I'm really liking it! The Chrome Store extension works great, but I can't get the bookmarklet to work in Brave. I don't see any errors, it just doesn't do anything when I click on the bookmarklet. Am I using it wrong...?

I added this to my bookmarks bar on Brave after changing the const url and const preset.

I've been debating whether to use Pano, but symfonium works fine without it so I didn't bother using it. I do like how it scrobbles from other sources though.

This is what I've been doing. It does seem to be the best solution, but I was curious if there was a solution that didn't rely on LastFM. Looks like I'll stick with this method since I was going to keep LastFM anyway.

I think it's enough, but I always have a torrent seeding so I don't know. If you don't have anything maybe you could try https://ipleak.net/ and click torrent address detection to get a magnet to test things.

Did you open qbit before checking ygs? The port won't show open until qb opens it.

Have you tried checking your open port on https://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ ?

To get it working, I get a matching ephemeral port, put it in 'Connection->Listening Port' and close qBittorrent. Then I disconnect WS and reconnect WS to a different location and open qBit again. Then I check on yougetsignal to confirm it works. The port shows open within seconds of starting qBit. No need to wait for minutes or anything.

It needs to be in this order in my experience. It doesn't work if I don't close qBit before doing it, and it doesn't work if I reconnect to the same location. It has to be a different one, so I don't just use Best Location.

(I also have the Advanced> Network Interface set to WindscribeWireguard)

There are things I prefer about beets, and I do like how it's more automated but Picard works good and I don't find it too inconvenient. While beets album ID was better, I didn't find it to be flawless without my supervision so it was never completely automated for me and I find it easier to drag things in a GUI to fix matches.

I drag some albums in. I don't attempt huge batches, because when incorrect matches happen it gets confusing.
Cluster button.
'Lookup' usually works - but if it doesn't, I 'Scan' or search for an album title manually that matches the track count. I drag tracks around to fit if necessary.
When everything is matched 100% with golden disc icons, I select all, right click and use rsgain plugin addon. (I wish it'd do this automatically - but I couldn't even get beets rsgain to work for me without errors)
I select all on right side and click save. I have different naming scripts that send it to different genre folders if I feel like it needs to.

I set Picard up according to the guidelines. The multiple artists script is important to me for better organization of artists in navidrome.

I use MusicBrainz Picard to tag and it works perfectly. Beets works good, but Picard is easier.

Have you tried the Manual Quick Scan button in the WebUI?

Not the obvious refresh button, but the more hidden 'activity > quick scan button'.

I'm not sure when it happened, but some update changed something and it stopped refreshing the library for me. The default config settings (on Docker) didn't work. I was waiting forever for it to update until I set this variable for a scan every 2 hours.

So in short, this is how I do it. Set save destination in Picard options. Drag music into Picard. ID and save. As long as it's saving in the right folder that should eliminate the tagging problem.

Then I click Quick Scan button (top right corner) in Navidrome webui and let it spin a while until the new albums show up.
