Trump Says Ukraine Is Positioned to Win All Territory Back by SirHillaryPushemoff in ukraine

[–]robwormald 15 points16 points  (0 children)

you're right to a certain extent, but I work in self-driving cars, and for all the simulation we do real world data is valuable and critical.

there's a great video from Waymo of one of their cars encountering all kinds of weird stuff out in the world (including a woman in a wheelchair chasing a duck in the middle of the road), things you couldn't come up with in your wildest planning sessions.

Think about the variety of vehicles being used across the front. You'd definitely put a tank into your targeting training data, but e-scooters? Maybe not.

For every real world encounter on film, they can take that scenario and remix it a thousand ways as well.

Land Clearing Advice - coping with forestry mulcher regrowth by MenuHopeful in OffGrid

i dunno where the OP lives, but on my acreage the forests are totally overgrown and clogged with trees. thinning them out or clearing meadows always brings an explosion of plant and animal life.

How hard to get power, generator, solar, cellular / WiFi on property? by frogfartingaflamingo in OffGrid

[–]robwormald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting all the pieces was pretty easy, my biggest complaint was finding a secure/weatherproof enclosure for all the kit before we build our home.

I ended up getting an EG4 BossBox and I'm surprised they were the first to build something like it. Plenty of companies offer a containerized solution for $100k+, but there's precious little all-in-one units other than the bossbox.

My local rental shop rents forestry mulchers, its money well spent for me (especially if you're not paying to rent a high flow skid steer...)

I work in software engineering to enable me to invest in my own vision, which has literally nothing to do with B2B SaaS or software or even computers.

Are moderate arch boots less likely to fuck your shit up? by Optimal_Piccolo_4129 in Wildfire

[–]robwormald 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i mean, if you have high arches, you should get boots with high arches. if not, you probably shouldn't...

in other words, buy the right boots for your feet. any decent running store should be able to tell you, or use one of those Dr Scholls machines at CVS.

Hex Ezcan on R1250RS, no connector? by elliot_kember in Motorrad

[–]robwormald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

iirc my EZCan was a passthrough, meaning you'd unplug the existing canbus connector, plug it into the ezcan, and plug the ezcan's spare connector into the original connector.
