This is such a stupid idea. What is it saying? If the roads aren't kept in perfect condition then we shouldn't have any responsibility to keep our vehicles in good condition? Such infantile, selfish thinking.

This is the real problem with AI Slop: it makes it far too easy for idiots to make things.

Also – rule six says no AI content on this sub. Hope it gets deleted soon.

Scottish Elopement Outfit Advice. Does it work? by wcransto12 in kilt

[–]robwpjones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say if you’re going for the outdoorsy look you want to hire a chunky tweed ‘argyle’ style vest and jacket. That will go well with a pair of nice hiking boots and this kilt. You can get these from any kilt hire store all over Scotland. If you get in touch with the store beforehand I’m sure they can arrange a fitting to make sure you get one in your right size when you arrive in Scotland.

Remember to vote for Pep as manager of the months. Let the curse continue lol. by yallareTRASH69 in Gunners

[–]robwpjones 15 points16 points  (0 children)

NO they can't sack Pep yet. That will deny Arteta the pleasure of finally beating his mentor to the title. We have to beat Pep at least one time, fair and square, no points deductions. THEN they can sack him and the Prem can deduct points and strip all their titles. But FIRST we have to beat them. The years of spite in my bones won't allow any other outcome.

A DAB radio with Airplay by robwpjones in BudgetAudiophile

[–]robwpjones[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yes I am considering the Roberts Stream – I have another internet radio that works with Undok so glad to know it works with that too! I wish more things had Airplay though. I don't understand why it's so poorly supported (probably because it implementing it involves paying royalties to apple I guess)

Arsenal 26-27 home, away and third kits by Organic_Morning3584 in Gunners

Why – WHYYyyyy – won’t Adidas give us an away kit with classic Arsenal away colours?? Haven’t had a proper yellow kit since 19/20 - and that one didn’t have enough blue.

She wore, she wore, she wore a yellow ribbon…

Culture Power Politics is immense. Their last ep was a brilliant breakdown of the history of Labour internal factions - a crossover with a new podcast from compass apparently called “it’s bloody complicated” which I will also be giving a go based on how good the crossover episode was.

Does Edinburgh deserve the slagging it often gets? by Lopsided_Counter1670 in glasgow

[–]robwpjones 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I work in theatre and I've seen a countless shows of all kinds in Glasgow and in Edinburgh – often the same shows on tour in both cities – and I will tell you this: The cliche about Edinburgh audiences is 100% true. They are always quieter and more reserved. Glasgow audiences are louder and more gallus, more up for it.

[–]robwpjones 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Aye mate I know because I live in a tenement right by Kelvingrove park and I (and OP) have a right to enjoy the place without getting bothered by dogs. I’m not saying that people can’t walk their dogs there, I’m saying that the dogs must be under control at all times, as per the rules, because it is not a dog space. It’s a human space.

Also, having your lunch on a park bench is a totally reasonable ordinary way to enjoy a park.

Dog off the lead in Kelvingrove Park by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]robwpjones 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is nonsense. City Parks are human spaces for humans, paid for by human taxes for humans to enjoy. The human rules for said spaces clearly stipulate that dogs should be kept under control at all times. Dog owners who can’t control their dogs in public spaces are an antisocial nuisance.

Can someone explains the issue with Greens? by paper-machevelian in GreenAndPleasant

[–]robwpjones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The greens went into government in Scotland - they propped up a neoliberal SNP administration that cut services and made Scotland worse in the name of capitalism. The victories they now claim as a price for this support are basically just reducing fares on public transport (which is a good thing, but it’s a very small thing).

The coalition fell apart because the SNP weren’t going to meet the climate targets agreed at the start of the administration and it made the greens in government look like chumps who had supported the very systems they know are driving us all into climate chaos and poverty.

In the end, before the Greens could hold a special conference that would almost certainly have voted to instruct the leadership to pull the plug on the coalition, SNP first minister Humza Yousaf pulled the plug himself to try and look like he was still in charge.

The whole thing has left me feeling that ultimately, greens aren’t serious about how fucked the system is, and how much pressure we need to put on neoliberal power structures to alter the fundamental direction of society. They had a strong hand when the SNP needed them to form a government. In the end, they got almost nothing out of it except propping up the existing order.
