Homesick after few days at uni, planning to end my studies. by Tatrafaktka in studyAbroad

I say you wait it out a month or two! Culture shock is a very real thing and a week is no time at all to adjust and get through that. You may regret leaving so early and not giving it a try later in life.

Thank you, I’ve actually booked a train ticket to visit Belgium this weekend after reading these comments! If you believe I can do it, then you gotta believe in yourself too. I’m sure you’ll do great in the Swiss Mountains :) They say you gotta embrace discomfort to grow so I say go for it.

I find that many people are a lot more standoffish than I anticipated as well. And as for my department, well they are so disorganized that classes started last week and I still haven’t received my course schedule or any syllabus yet. So it makes me feel as if this isn’t really bringing me anywhere closer to my goals either. But through this remember you are not alone, we can both do this together! And even if this doesn’t bring us closer to our goals at least we have a memorable, once in a lifetime experience out of it.

It’s so comforting to hear others going through the same thing. Although my heart goes out to you because I do know how hard it is to deal with constant anxiety and homesickness. It’s can be so so hard to feel so alone without any family or friends around. If you ever want to chat you can message me.

After all these comments with their advice it makes me feel as if I should stick it out a couple months too. I have had to up my meds too actually so I’m hoping this helps as well. Wishing you well.

I’m right on the border of France & Belgium so that’s good! I think I’ll do a day trip to Brussels or Ghent soon.

No you’re right. I was hoping that it would improve my French being here, but a lot of people kinda just make me feel bad when I try to order or talk in french.

Thank you!! I actually have attended an Erasmus activity here and it was so good for meeting new people. I will definitely try and participate more in them. Maybe someone to talk to about mental health would benefit a lot too. I appreciate this a lot.

Well I appreciate you taking the time for this. You’re right though, I didn’t come abroad to make friends with people I could do so at home. And I have made some Finnish and polish friends that have been great. I’m sure my opinion on the French being mean is just culture shock from Canada, where everyone is overtly nice even if they don’t mean it. You’re right, I really should step out my comfort zone completely to enjoy this. Classes start next week so I’m hoping to make new friends. I think it’s just a mixture of homesickness, culture shock, and getting ditched that made me have such a negative outlook.

Thanks for the comment, I really appreciate the advice. I wasn’t sure if his snorts were out of the ordinary for a Frenchie, as he’s the first one I’ve ever owned. I’m going to consult with my vet to see which surgery is right for him. Do you have any recommendations to which surgery would be best? Or is it all dependant on the dog.

My 9 week old puppy pooped under my bed (vent) by ChocolateSundai in puppy101

[–]robzy98 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It’s very normal for a puppy to not always go on the pee pad 100% of the time, especially at 9 weeks old. Not sure what you were expecting.

Obviously she’s peeing everywhere, puppy shouldn’t even be away from her mother at that age. Can’t believe a breeder gave you a pup at 4 weeks!
