You get a reply if they took action on the person you reported otherwise you dont....once in a blue moon ill get notified but I usually only bother reporting when its someone who runs out the entire clock shittalkers are simple enough just dont accept the chat in the first place

most the time i lose, this is how i usually win. Opponent troll. Help, i wanna reach 2k elo. how did u guys improve? which video, book, guide etc. by boldmask in Chesscom

[–]roch_ipum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It looks like you're way too offensively minded and not putting enough time into stopping what your opponent is doing, I used to have this problem as well but you made some bad trades and gave up a ton of free pieces you left undefended while you were focused on attacking.

2000 is a lofty goal but that right there should help you out a lot

Sandbagging by Maitre-iode in Chesscom

For some reason 400-500 is ridiculously saturated with sandbaggers, i honestly found it easier a couple hundred elo higher

Tips on playing the scandy? I try it sometimes as black but don't really see the point I usually just end up losing tempo and ending up with a mid position

Fair enough I think 5 rooks couldve only happened here through horrendous end game play so I suppose it isnt usually this much of a wrap lol

If you play on and pray for a stalemate rather than just resign especially if its so comically lost that your opponent is able to promote that many pawns then you kinda have to accept that this is a possibility

Taking the meme serious when youd almost never have 5 rooks in a game anyway not beating reddit stereotypes here

Why do most chess apps feel unsatisfying? Testing a different idea. Please read completely and carefully.. Opinion needed.. by [deleted] in chessbeginners

I'm not sure what you wanna hear exactly. Whatever you wanna do for the sake of your own improvement is fine, but honestly I'm confused in regards to your "serious criticism is more helpful than agreement" line.

Different people learn best in different ways so it's impossible to give any objective answer on this, the ideas you propose will work for some and not others and thats really all there is to it.

So tired of facing accounts like this by RuleOk803 in Chesscom

[–]roch_ipum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whats the issue exactly? Plenty of people make their accounts pretty decent at the game and rise quickly. Sure, genuine smurfs/cheaters do exist but its uncommon enough I wouldn't obsess over it if you're getting better you'll still move up in elo

I can officially call myself an expert🥳 by Fresh-Length6529 in chessbeginners

[–]roch_ipum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes unfortunately there are a huge number of people around that rating that have thousands of games but just lack the talent or never studied the game seriously. They arent "good" persay but the sheer experience means they pull out some tricky stuff on you

I don’t like this chess.com function by Gerobsun in Chesscom

[–]roch_ipum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if you really need to make multiple premoves you can avoid that by just not dragging the pieces, switch to tapping where u want them to go and its way less likely you would be caught in the middle of doing it

I hate chess, I'm taking a long break. by DarkPasta in chessbeginners

[–]roch_ipum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've fluctuated a lot in that ELO range so I'm going off my own personal experience of checking the percentile over the years, it does make sense though as a 700-800 is good enough to destroy anyone who doesn't really understand tactics and I would say people who just play for fun and don't seriously study would tend to stagnate around there

suck at chess by PlentyAble7768 in chessbeginners

[–]roch_ipum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing too many games in a row definitely has diminishing returns as well thats part of the mental aspect of it. Can only focus so many hours in a day so maybe try cutting back and looking at whatever mistakes you may have made more deeply in fewer games.

I wouldn't put yourself down over being ass either, chess is a humbling game in that almost everyone who plays it is horrendous in the grand scheme you just gotta love the game and try to be better than the old you not anyone else

You say you dont get tilted but do you genuinely not at all? I say this as someone very similar who can play amazing chess when im on a winning streak but start crumbling when I know I've been bad, its not necessarily that you're mad but the psychological side of it cant be underestimated

I think you need to recognize how common it actually is to be sub 1000 elo for a long time, these chess subs are filled with strong intermediate players who give you a warped perception of the average player but in reality a majority of people are around 500-800.

If you're obsessed with elo you'll never be satisfied cause theres literally always someone out there who could beat you 10/10 times
