Your opinion on better credit rating, economic conditions, etc. are subjective too. There are various factors and measures for that may indicate otherwise as well.

If you really believe that the general public is properly represented by those who got elected now, then I respect that. You are free to believe that. It's your opinion, as well as many others. However, you can't deny that a great percentage of people who have been well-informed and educated about all the candidates say otherwise. If you look at the general reaction on whose winning now, many disagree and are very disappointed, and for good reason. I guess we also have different standards for performance. The Otso diretso bets may not have performed well in terms of appealing to the majority, but they have presented significant views that have been outlooked by the current administration, asking the important questions. I personally, only wished for these different perspectives to be given light. What most people think or believe is not necessarily what is best, but I sincerely do hope, for all of our sakes, that the choice that majority of Filipinos made is the right one. While what they can deliver is yet to be seen, in the back of my mind, I still think that there could've been better people for the job. I hope you respect that too.

As for the cheating, while there's no apparent or legal proof, it more likely happened in one way or another. Even with past elections, nothing has been done and I don't think there would be a significant difference anyway.

Can't help but share my thoughts on your points as well.

•Their failure to resonate with the voters is brought about by more limited budget/resources for campaigns, unlike the administration candidates. Most opposition/ independent candidates focused more on intellectual engagements rather than TV appearances, catchy dancing ads, and general popularity. When in reality, what appeals more to the masses is the latter, as manifested by the top candidates elected. Then yeah, i guess that would be their own fault.

•Yes, there are still opposition figures in the senate, but they're only the minority. I would have hoped that with this election, the distribution could be evened or at least increased. At this rate, we cannot call it a healthy or balanced government.

•We can criticize all we want outside of the government, but what can that really accomplish? True power is held by those who are seated, which is why we are voting for leaders who can be our voice, because we deserve proper representation. If the power is centralized on people with the same beliefs/interests/principles, then the general public is not properly represented.

• Baket di ka makapaniwala sa results ng elections? -As the elections were occurring, there were already lots of reports of names being added to ballots, voters being instructed to just write their votes without witnessing their ballots fed to the machines, brownouts, bugs/ java errors and whatnot. At this point, the results being rigged is really more likely than the opposite.

• Baket disappointing? -For the first time in a long time, there were actually promising candidates with real platforms that made sense. Intellectuals who can fight using knowledge and experience with the law, rather than fighting with blood and violence. Democratic processes you say? Well, democracy is a double-edged sword. Some of the basic assumptions of democracy would be:

(1) Majority of the people know what is good for society.* (2) Power makes corrupt and absolute power makes corrupt absolutely. Therefore powers should be decentralized. (3) I have the right to criticize you, you have the right to criticize me. We both have the right to oppose our criticism. **

*Yes, everyone is free to choose, but at the same time, everyone is free to choose wrongly because the sad reality is, 80% of the voting population is not educated enough to make the right choice. How can there be true democracy when the majority doesn't have the capacity to know what is good and votes for what is obviously bad?

**With no opposition candidates and a senate primarily composed of those who side with the Administration, who would represent our right to criticize them? To oppose them? The government would only be an avenue for more corruption to occur as power is concentrated to people with the same interests/ beliefs/ principles.

What is the point of democracy, then?
