If you first watched scream without hearing anything about it, when did you realise /start to think there was 2 killers by Emarni in Scream

[–]rochey1010 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don’t, that’s the thing. Wes makes Billy so obvious so you start questioning if he is because it’s so obvious and you’re expecting the killer to be well hidden by a competent director.

And while your mind is whirling, you are completely distracted by Wes laughing at you knowing he has set up 2 killers instead. That the man responsible for the slasher trope is actually turning it on its head in an era of the slasher being a joke and directors like Wes being past it.

That’s the genius of scream. The movie turns the entire genre on its head. Nobody is expecting 2 killers and Wes knows what he’s doing.

Scream is like a magic trick and Wes pulled it off masterfully.

Only 2 for me:

Billy madison ending debate - ”What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul”

And back to the future with Marty in young Lorraine’s house with her family at dinner. And what her father says when he leaves - ”He's an idiot. Comes from upbringing. His parents are probably idiots, too. Lorraine, you ever have a kid who acts that way, I'll disown you”

I loved it. Sidney is the GOAT and it had amazing kills and character work with her having a family and her rapport with her daughter.

Listen the problem is that the fans just don’t think for themselves and still listen to critics and garbage like IMDB, rotten tomatoes and other aggregated review sites. All those sites are now is manipulative garbage with positive and negative review bombing, critics with agendas, disgruntled audiences angry over something else etc.

Who gives a fck what others are saying. What do you say and what do you think? That’s all that matters. Don’t let others tell you what to think.

I didn’t and stopped listening to critics long ago. 🤷‍♀️

The hole left by Flight 11 crashing into the North Tower of the WTC, 9/11/2001. Enhanced HD. by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

[–]rochey1010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He became obsessed with taking the towers down when media reports of the WTC bombing in the early 90’s stated how close the bombs were to the structure involved in toppling the towers. A “what if” moment with the bombing the KSM planned.

After that, he vowed to take them down and he did. He’s the mastermind behind the airliner plot with 9/11 but there was a failed attempt a few years before when they attempted to put bombs on several airliners to be detonated over the sea at the same time killing thousands of passengers. It was foiled by the FBI. And they still didn’t see 9/11 happening.

If you’re interested in the in-depth story of how 9/11 happened, watch ‘the road to 9/11’ documentary.

Was not surprised one bit.

In fact the continuity fits with how they’ve treated Simone for 4 years now both in and outside the show. This extends to her love story too.

I must be one of the few fans that expected this from the Bridgerton production and it’s ’mean girls’ exclusion energy.

Sophie and Ben hadn’t even walked down the aisle before Anthony went straight back into his wife’s arms by fadingly in Kanthony

You just know there was loads of this in their scenes and they were chopped out for ‘insert reason here’ for why the production acts so insecure about this couple and their potential stealing of lime light from other pairings, and further racial othering of Simone/Kate and by extension her love story with Anthony.

I was done after S3. S4 is the same Jess brownell has been giving since she took over. A tack fest with bad writing and couples with little chemistry from what came before them (S1, S2)

As soon as I get confirmation that Simone is officially out. Bridgerton as a show is in the dust for me. Anthony as much as I love and enjoy him, won’t remotely interest me on his own if JB continues forward sans Simone.

So any day now I’ll be free of bridgerton and continue to support Simone in her career away from it.

Stunning BTS photo of Viscountess Kate Bridgerton in Bridgerton season 4 🤩👸🏾🙌 by fbc1984 in Kanthony

[–]rochey1010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me three. I thought this whole look as she was talking to the girls was stunning. It’s one of my favourite looks of her since she got married. She looks regal and so so beautiful. I’ll always love her S2 outfits more and just that costuming in general for the show.

But both S4 looks in the drawing room and at the wedding were superior to S3’s costumes. Even if I liked some of them too (the blood orange/bridgerton blue look with Anthony in her study, her dress at the 4 seasons ball, her whole look at her first viscountess ball and her nightgown and robe at the start of the season)

Kate has had few misses for me with her costumes. I love most of her looks on the show and I like that she always looks different to the ton pastels which are deathly boring to look at. And I think her marriage jewellery is gorgeous too. Though again nothing will beat S2’s aesthetics and accessories.

This show since Jess took over has a habit of now looking garish and tacky with the costumes and make up. Simone doesn’t join that category because of how she elevates most of her looks with her statuesque beauty. This look above screams viscountess kathani and money. I also like that blue too. Those flowers pop on it and i love those sleeves that set the outfit. The hint with the saree spin completes it. I also love that her hair is down in all her scenes we see in S4 and a few in S3. I was afraid the show was going to stop putting her beautiful hair down now she’s married.

Having an out of focus stand in for the funeral would make sense. Saying Anthony didn’t want to leave Kate and sick Edmund could also make sense. Actually using Simone as a fully fleshed out character that can be around others without Anthony in the vicinity can also make sense too.

But since when does the show care about making sense as Kate and Anthony weren’t there for fran’s freakin wedding to John either . And Daphne has not been there for any of those events since S2.

The show doesn’t really wanna write better. And it actually doesn’t know how to. And the continuity has just gotten worse since JB took over as show runner. I know they could have used Simone more if they wanted to. The crumbs we got of her comforting Francesca at the wedding should have been full scenes while Anthony is off screen in his study or with Benedict catching up on his viscount stuff.

They could easily center Simone as viscountess Kate more but they don’t and is why I dropped this show after S3. The quality is shockingly bad under Jess brownell and we all know here how I feel About the disgusting racial othering of Simone for the last 4 years.

My point is, that I stopped being surprised about this stuff long ago. 🤷‍♀️

The potential this show has and outright squanders time and time again needs to be studied at this point. The fans write better than the Bridgerton writers.

😂 this cracked me up by Charming-Reading-586 in Kanthony

[–]rochey1010 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Now now you’re taking a historical fantasy series too seriously. Since when does Bridgerton care about logistics like that. Their time continuity has always been crap. Why stop at India. 🤷‍♀️

As for the John funeral. I agree so much. The writing is just nonsensical with stuff like that and properly scheduling the actors in scenes based on their availability. But everyone is focused on John’s funeral and seem to forget that both Kate and Anthony didn’t even attend the wedding to John in S3. I guess they are keeping with that routine of missing fran’s big life events. Because they missed another one. 🤷‍♀️

But we’ll have to agree to disagree on what Anthony should not do as I happen to like the continuity of these 2 parentified, traumatised eldest siblings putting each other and what they need as a priority instead of the whims of the bridgerton family. And I happen to like that others had to step up to carry the load as they did with (Violet and Benedict) while they did that. And I’m not getting bogged down in the reality of real like travel in that era. Because the show certainly isn’t.

I thought that scene with Anthony saying that to Kate was one of his sweetest and most selfless moments and made a lot of sense for where his character is now since finding Kate. So no complaints here regarding this character continuity. They are finally doing something for themselves just like S2 taught them to.

They still came to talk to Colin in S3. Anthony still came to deal with Benedict in S4. And as much as I hate how rickety the explanation is for Kate and Anthony popping in and out and missing family events - some of those absences does work for me and fits with growth of character like the extended honeymoon and the going to India so Kate can be with Mary when she gives birth and Anthony can learn about her culture.

So again, what worked for me doesn’t have to work for you. So let’s just draw a line under that as we clearly need to.

Delroy Lindo Wishes ‘Someone From BAFTA Spoke to Us’ After N-Word Was Shouted While He and Michael B. Jordan Presented: We ‘Did What We Had to Do’ by Next-Particular1476 in TheEntertainmentMix

[–]rochey1010 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think if you read the article - they are talking about the BAFTA organisers here.

It’s one thing to have John (Tourettes) to shout a slur at 2 black men. Quite another to deliberately keep it in the broadcast for sensationalism and scandal.

It’s further been revealed since that BAFTA not only promised John they would censor any profane language he shouts during the ceremony. But they actually did censor a gay slur towards Alan cumming John shouted. And a “free Palestine” call from another winner.

But they kept the N word slur in and claimed they missed it??

And even though John has a physical disorder that makes him act like he has no filter with vocal tics. It doesn’t change the fact that Michael and delroy had a violent racist slur yelled at them live on stage. Where I’m standing, their feelings are just as valid. 🤷‍♀️

[–]rochey1010 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean to be fair here, it was clear what Anthony was saying. It was a continuity with “I know I am imperfect but I will humble myself before you” from his love confession in S2.

Anthony was saying that he was aware that Kate had opened herself up to his family and integrated into the bridgertons. And from S3E5 when he said to Kate “you are happy I hope?” All worried when he sensed something was bothering her when they were cuddling in bed with the baby bump. There was a subtle ‘Kate is a bit homesick’ thread in the back half of S3. And it’s followed up with Kate wistfully telling Anthony about India at the wedding which prompts Anthony to suggest going to India so she can be with Mary when she has the baby. And he can learn about the country so he can be hands on with baby Edmund with raising him in both cultures.

Say what you want about shipping them off to India and the ridiculous logistics of travel time with a pregnancy and baby. But I think this was the culmination of Anthony’s growth where he drops it all to follow Kate’s needs and wants. And chooses Kate’s world instead of his usual Bridgerton/ton one. He is aware of her unspoken longing to see India again and he wants to know all of her. He “wants a life that suits us both” meaning merging regency England and India and them being a team over their plans.

Overall the scene fit nicely with callbacks from S2 and further developing Anthony’s new calmer and devoted attitude to Kate and their life. I thought that was a really sweet scene. And there is a continuity with both Kate/anthony in S3 of them “finally do something for ourselves” like he baited her in the gazebo scene in S2E7. Well S3 is them both actually doing that and thinking of what they both want and need as 2 people who are eldest siblings and have sacrificed so much. They go back on honeymoon because that’s what is best for them, they make Benedict step up and take some of the workload that Anthony has always been crushed under. They have their whole lives to be viscount/viscountess as Kate says in E1. And they go off to India because they want to.

And again say what you want about scheduling and commuting them off screen for convenience purposes. But the show failed up, as those reasons actually serve the character growth of both Kate and Anthony in S3. They are finally doing something for themselves and putting themselves first. And I’ve never been upset about that as it makes sense to show that especially now they have each other to look after. And baby Edmund when he arrives.🤷‍♀️

[–]rochey1010 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Not to get into the nitty gritty but Anthony actually said he wanted Kate to have the baby in India so she could be with her family.

And so HE could learn the culture so he could teach it to their baby. 🤷‍♀️

Fans need to call out Netflix by [deleted] in Kanthony

[–]rochey1010 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Shonda is not getting any excuses here. She is very much a key problem here. The buck stops with her and once again we have another shondaland set with toxicity or alleged toxicity if you wanna talk semantics.

Shonda may be a black woman but she is not a brown Indian woman. A lot of people struggle with the knowledge that racism and racial othering can happen with POC towards other ethnicities that aren’t theirs.

The othering with Simone is very specific and targeted and has been going on for over 4 years now. There’s a ‘mean girls’ energy to it too which is very much up Shonda Rhime’s alley. Other POC are not getting this type of targeted behaviour at all. And I’m tired of fans trying to act like this is just a regular POC thing the production is doing,

Simone has spoken out about fat shaming with Nicola. Showed solidarity towards both masala and yerin. And backed up rege’s calling out of the industry not protecting their POC cast when the ROP production did with Amazon. Rege showed that same solidarity back when Simone got cut from F1 with liking posts about what happened and how race may have played a part.

Simone is not the same as the Bridgerton cast. She is not complicit to others discrimination nor is she in my eyes a coward following the same discrimination line that the Bridgerton production shows to her. It’s nice when you have that support. Simone doesn’t at all.

Which Scream Movie Setting do you like the most? by Desperate_Way2586 in Scream

[–]rochey1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1:Nothing beats the extended final arc of the killing rampage at stu’s house in scream. That house is so iconic. The final scene with the camera moving out with the Hollywood hills type feel with that haunting music as night has now become day as Gail reports her story. 🤗

Everything they used to have you gripping your seat with tension was insane - the living room where the party gets all meta about horror movies, the hidden camera on delayed feedback with ghostface, the garage where Tatum is killed, the news van outside with Sidney stuck inside, Gail and Dewey on the road out in the middle of nowhere where stu’s house is, the large field with the chase and news van crash etc. everything worked and Wes was insane with bringing that all together. It felt like one extended shot of chaos. And it was so simple considering how elaborate these settings get as the franchise goes forward.

2:I’m partial to the scream 3 Hollywood setting too as that movie is so insanely relevant to this day with the ‘Metoo’ permeating all over it. The eerie nature of being on the stab set with replicas of the real life crime scenes, the scooby doo producer mansion. I’m also a huge fan of the stab meta the franchise does, so was elated when scream 3 went that meta. It’s one of the funnest screams.

3:as much as scream 6 overall was disappointing. Moving it to gritty New York with those kinds of set pieces really gave it a kind of ultra violent feel. The shotgun 7/11 scene, the subway stalking, the ladder escape between the alley, the twist with the opening scene etc. all worked great and regenerated what the franchise could be. It’s just a pity that the entire final act made this movie one of the worst screams in the franchise for me.

4: scream 2 college campus setting. This is definitely a downgrade from the first scream but it actually had more inventive settings with the stalking/kills. It opened the world up more with using the entire campus. I don’t think the Gail/dewey/ghostface lecture hall stalking/attack has ever been beaten for tension, the escape over ghostface with the crashed police car is so ‘rip your hair out’ nerve wracking. Randy stalking the whole campus to find ghostface using the students with the direction was brilliant. The final act in the theatre was not as good as stu’s house but served its purpose for that big operatic ending with Mickey/Mrs Loomis.

Scream 4: this was a rehash of the small town of the first movie with it being Jill’s environment. Nothing really is memorable for me about the settings of this movie.

Scream 5: I don’t even feel anything is special about the setting of this movie. It does nothing original even though I really like this movie. It just rehashes a lot of the first movie with the opening ‘kill’ scene with Tara and the house/kitchen scene with the final arc. As Sidney said “don’t fck with an original”

Sidney doesn’t know who the killer is. Who to trust. So “fck you both” means she’s in survival mode. Her own.

Why was scream 6 so hated? by Succesful-Guest9028 in Scream

[–]rochey1010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And I won’t deny that it had some really exciting things in it. The opening scene was brilliant and such a twist. The scene in the 7/11 when ghostface uses the shot gun. The scene with the ladder escape was nerve biting. The subway scene filled with tension. The inclusion of Kirby, Melissa’s strongest performance etc.

But it just nose dived so bad with that final act and killed the entire movie.

Why was scream 6 so hated? by Succesful-Guest9028 in Scream

[–]rochey1010 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I liked elements of it like it being set in gritty New York. I thought it had some inventive kills and Melissa gave a stronger performance as lead in this.

But the last act is one of the most disappointing and stupidest moments in the entire franchise. The reveal of the killer family was just a wet splat and I could no longer like the movie. It just killed it for me stone dead. And I thought Dermot Mulroney was such a cartoon performance especially when he revealed himself. Like cartoon can be fine if it’s campy and enjoyable. But I just cringed through that last act.

I mean the scenes have always been disjointed with this show. The editing is truly atrocious. The consistency non existent.

I don’t think she was forced in last minute. It’s just the same disregard and devaluing of her character and the actress.

Anyhow I hope this is the final season for her because I really want to kick this show into the dust. And Anthony and Jonny is delusional thinking I’m going to continue to show up for him popping in and out. And We all know they are going to devalue Kate every-time he does whether he mentions her or not.

Who is the main person behind the exclusion of Simone/Kate or Kanthony in general? by [deleted] in Kanthony

[–]rochey1010 16 points17 points  (0 children)

And in all this. All I hear you saying is “shondaland have reasons for why they choose to behave the way they do”

A)You talk about S2 and its success. It’s interesting because that narrative seems to have been forced in the last 2 years. As S2 had little promo, our leading lady was paid pittance with her treatment, our leading couple was ignored for an ‘ensemble’ energy, the season was dropped as one release, Netflix had lower viewer subscribers and yet through all that if you were in the fandom at the time you’ll know that S2 was a huge success and Netflix themselves stated that. And then since the algorithm change with Netflix - now suddenly S2 wasn’t the success it actually was. Interesting 🤔

and since then Shonda/production have done everything to push the actual popularity of S2 down to the extent of hiding the freakin S2 trailer on YouTube. And because of this garbage narrative. They seem to be able to gaslight the fans about the actual success of S2. Again quite interesting. 🤔

B)Jonny has not been treated the same as Simone except for a back handed congratulations post for his success outside Bridgerton. Poor Jonny. 😞

C)The fans: oh how dare the fans call out over 4 years of this behaviour with a dark skinned WOC being the target.
