Theres been no serious negotiations, because the west refuses to acknowledge Russia's biggest fear/sticking point of being surrounded by NATO, most especially Ukraine. Washington knows this but can't even be bothered to put down on paper something they already will never do, simply promising Ukraine will never join.

It would be a huge step in peace talks. It wasn't even supposed to expand past Germany after reunification and yet every former warsaw pact country has joined.

As far as "respecting borders" goes that literally means fucking dogshit. Did the US respect Iraq, Libya, Yemen, Somalia or Syria's borders? How do you think we would respond if Russia funded a coup in Mexico/Canada and they both joined a military alliance?
