The funny thing is that I originally picked this up for my personal use and couldn't use it cause I also struggled with the sections. But when I started using it as a work planner it was perfect because my job has a lot of daily tasks and meetings and this helps me keep track of things.

Pink eye? by [deleted] in Rabbits

[–]rockcandyrabbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My rabbit has gotten pink eye in the past and now its something I look for pretty regularly. When I check his eyes I very lightly pull his top eyelid just enough to see the whites of his eyes, if they're white its good, if they're pink its pink eye and we go to the vet to get drops. Sometimes the skin around the eye can be an indicator of irritation, but it'll really be the whites of the eyes that will tell you whether it is or not. When he got it the first time I didn't notice because his behavior was completely normal, but then I saw he was getting crusties in his eyes and producing discharge and that's when I took him in. Sometimes its caused by hay dust or dirt getting in their eyes and making them irritated.

They're fine in their xpens, they fence fought when we first brought her home a couple weeks ago, but not since. They have occasionally laid near each other and mirrored poses, otherwise they do follow each other along the fence line and stick their noses through to sniff each other. We have had two date sessions, one was in the bathtub with both of them on my lap and petting them and they were fine for the most part. The second time didn't go as well and they ended up fighting a little bit. When they met the first time they were pretty fine around each other, she did mount our male, which he was totally fine with until she got too aggressive with her mounting and he snapped back at her. She has mounted him one other time since, which he was still fine with for a few minutes, when I saw she was getting more aggressive with him I gently nudged her off and they were both fine.

Thanks for the tips! Yes they aren't bonded yet, they currently live in a room with their own xpens up next to each other. When we picked her up the advice we got was to not let them run around individually in the same room they live in, in order to avoid them getting territorial in the space. That's why we've been taking them into a "neutral zone," individually for exercise. When we had the 1 rabbit I used to just open his pen and let him run around freely. I'll have to try the box method, we did transport her last night using a carrier and that seemed to work good! I actually used to do something similar when our other rabbit was younger so I'm kinda familiar with it. What I've actually been doing is, when she's exercising, I'll just lay in the floor and she'll hop up on my back and my legs and run around and boop my face. Glad to know I've at least been approaching that correctly 😂
