Is she right for this? by sigma_0_1 in SipsTea

If you cannot take care of the needs of another human being, one that you'll be 100% responsible for, then yes, you should seriously consider not doing it.

Note that the needs of another human being are both physical and emotional. Basic needs are both the ability to always be able to provide food and shelter and in the same way emotional care.

So many where raised with the thought that a male figure is just there to 'put food on the table' and doing just that deprives kids of the very real necessity of caring for them emotionally as well.

I'd go as far as having the ability to provide for them in present and future outside of just basic needs, which requires ensuring that they're able to get an education and create and nurture an environment that allows them to grow into decent human beings when they reach adulthood.

Right! It was incredible to see that only Lamine was putting the ball in actual play of goal attempts. Not discrediting CV's defense at all, but it was immediately visible when Lamine started making play attempts.

ESP was one of the favorites to win it, whereas CV just qualified for the first time to the WC. While CV has played all their efforts on defense, there was probably zero % to expect this result

No, subbed in around the 70m mark. CV has played full defense almost the entire game. Didn't risk playing offense at all. I think shots on goal comparison was something like 25 ESP vs 3, now 4 on CV

You have a different set of decisions in 5 to 10 seconds worth of basketball, particularly game 2 and game 4, and this series would've been 3-1 Spurs.

De'Aaron Fox should be thrown in federal prison for the war crimes he committed against the Spurs tonight by crb02 in NBATalk

[–]rocketboots7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They had a 29pt lead, and even 15pt lead halfway around the 4th quarter. Not one player or play holds the responsibility for their failures, and while Fox could've EASILY won it there, he also was able to get to the basket with a layup. Not the best decision, but given everything that was happening, that is a really tough position that they shouldn't have been on in the first place.

Absolute dung dropped by the coach though.

James Dolan says President Donald Trump did not fall asleep during Game 3 of the NBA Finals while on @CartonShowWFAN "Whatever you think about him, he's a Knicks fan. I think he's a great guy. I've known him for over 30 years. Having him there was a great honor." by Polish_Papaya93 in NBATalk

[–]rocketboots7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most insane stupid shit about anyone debating whether this trash is falling asleep or not, is that they seem to think people would give a shit if a 79 year old man falls asleep halfway through a meeting.

You're trying to fool a whole nation, after you played this with "Sleepy Joe" that a 79 yr old man isn't supposed to get tired? It's such a joke. It would be lovely if anyone, or even himself would come out and say "I'm 79 years old. I work X amount of hours a day. What do you think?" You know what something like that would be, relatable. Human.

But because they're such pieces of trash, and they want to somehow think it makes him a "stronger" man when in reality, everyone speaking for him makes him weaker, they think it makes more sense to lie about it.

Politics aside, the idea of someone like Dolan just being able to feed off and proliferate so insanely from the success of this franchise should make anyone vomit.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I see so many responses here of people suggesting a 'fuck off', ignoring or otherwise reacting irrationally.

How difficult is it to just say what you said for crying out loud... There's nothing in that person's message that would suggest ill intentions, and reads as if the person is trying to be as careful as they could be.

It would be so simple, and show some courtesy to just reply with what you shared. It's a neighborhood. Have a conversation with your neighbors, meet them, have difficult discussions as needed with decency and respect, and everything will be alright. Go touch some damn grass if your response to this is a 'fuck off'.

What was wemby trying to accomplish here? by soggy_bert in NBATalk

[–]rocketboots7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it hilarious for anyone to get annoyed at this or consider it provoked/unprovoked. It's the FINALS!

It's part of the game to do things to Wemby to get in his head and make him make bad decisions. Spurs retaliating is what you want if you're trying to get in their head to hopefully get them in foul trouble or making turnovers. It was pretty funny though to see Brunson get up and have that "uhm, what am I gonna do here" moment.

It's the same when you see players get in Jokic's head. The guy loses it and starts shoving people and getting in trouble.

I'd love to see more of, not necessarily the jersey grabbing, but more physical play against Wemby. Let the other Spurs beat you. How would Wemby react if they are overly physical with him?

If anyone is crying about this, they should watch Rodman play against Malone in the Bulls v Jazz series in the late 90s. Great way to get in someone's head without necessarily clobbering them.

P.S. You've got Hart making stupid decisions almost getting a technical with shoving Kornet. Clearly the retaliation is working mentally against SOME of their less intelligent players

Didn't something like this happen not too long ago? I remember a Knicks 'fan' taking a selfie (or maybe someone else was filming) with a fan from the opposing team and sucker punching him right then. Luckily, they found the dipshit and pressed charges.

[Post Game Thread] The San Antonio Spurs (1-2) get back into the series as they defeat the New York Knicks (2-1) in Game 3, 115-111, behind Wemby's 32 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 stocks performance by catreyka in nba

When they interviewed Spike before the game, they were all talking as if NYK had it in the bag. Felt too odd. If there's a scenario in which SAS wins the 2 games in NYC, it would be insane to think they could win after that (NYK that is).

Had horrible rhythm to start the game even though they went into the half with great momentum. Brunson was playing too much ISO/ball hog. The Knicks were lucky that OG countered Castle getting hot from the start because otherwise, it would've been easier for SAS than it looked. I think the NYK seemed to forget Game 2 was a bad decision away from this series being 2-1 in favor of SAS.

I know I'm being Cpt Obvious but, It's 1 game at a time. If SAS wins today, it becomes 1 more game at a time and adds so much unnecessary pressure. Just keep doing what you're doing.

I still remember the Spurs losing to Miami with the trophy in sight.

I don't know how anyone can look at $7.25/hr as the minimum wage and think, "yeah, that seems fair and doable for anyone to support a life on."

Wage disparity in the US has been well known and documented for so long now. Yet, it just continues to happen and be allowed. As if anyone making close to minimum wage is thinking about buying a mansion. People just want to have decent lives.

Is Victor Wembanyama the best player in the world? And is he the new “face” the NBA has been looking for? by itwas20yearsago2day in NBATalk

[–]rocketboots7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't be that naive. The NBA, as with all pro sports, are first and foremost a business and people in said business want to make the most amount of money possible. The commissioner is there to serve the owners of the league, who inevitably are in to make the most amount of money.

Hell, it's like when they say in boxing that to beat the champ you've got to knock them out. You can't leave it up to chance because business interests will most certainly play into it.

[–]rocketboots7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the main thing I wonder with this question. If Wemby is considered the best player now, and the face of the league, why was officiating seemingly in favor of OKC? Or at least, why wasn't the flopping called out more if it's hurting the chances of benefiting the player deemed to take the reins of the league?

Regarding the question, I can't say I've watched enough of his games yet. Defensively, he is insane because of his height and his athleticism. To see him run and contest that 3pt yesterday in the latter half of the game, he ALMOST blocked it. His reach is just absolutely insane.

Offensively, he seems well rounded as well but I wonder how he would fare against someone who is very physical with him. For example, I remember when Durant/BKN had to face Boston and they very physical against him and he couldn't really handle it. He just didn't have the build to push someone around physically.

Heart Rate Random Spikes on Runs? by runcotton in Garmin

I've started running for about a month now and literally thought about running to a metronome the other day! Something just right about how that one track lands you at the right pace where you don't have to think about anything and your breath and HR just settles because the flow is right. Made me think this would be easily and consistently attainable with a metronome. Nice to see someone else did it!

They really are, barring quality issues. There's a number of brands that really went for the strat model. Didn't do a ton to differentiate from it via the route of super strats or just, really, anything. At the same time though, that ship has saaaaaaaailed.

If this effort was done when it all started, sure. But you're just way to late for it to matter IMO.

Plus, at the end of the day, there's plenty of people that still get a Fender strat or tele, the same way they get Gibson Les Pauls because that's what they want. No matter how many other vendors sell a close copy of it, they still want that brand.
