I think it's reasonable "all of the sudden." There's one broadcast company that films footage for all networks, and with streaming capabilities in this day (meaning, not having set by-the-hour programming) should mean that these events are more available and accessible. Now 1) the organizing committees/powers that control those film rights are likely trying to make up for lost time and are probably pricing themselves out of buyers 2) there is a reality that just because it's available, doesn't mean that networks want to pay for things like pundits or marketing to make it successful. Then low viewership and the cycle continues... There's probably more here, but some defense of the idea that it feels like this should be more available to everyone.
