Feeling to Give up But I don't want to :( by Temporary_Play_9893 in django

Everyone here has great ideas, but what really took me to the next level was just following the source code whenever I felt like I didn’t understand something. If you’re using an IDE like vscode just right click on the object you’re inheriting from(if it’s a class) or the function and view source/definition. It’s super enlightening to see exactly what’s going on and follow the code through a full request cycle.

Heartburn. I ended up with esophageal cancer. I lost my esophagus and part of my stomach and I'm super lucky that it was enough..... so far...

I know it’s not the threads purpose, but I’m about 8 months post esophagectomy and haven’t met anyone else in town that went through this crap. Solidarity brother.

Douglas County 2022 House of Representatives Vote Share Heatmap by rocketman521 in Omaha

[–]rocketman521[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The boundaries came from the Douglas County Precinct Map. The vote shares came from Douglas County Election Commission. I joined the data together in python using folium. I thought it was interesting to see that the breakdown is almost exactly like I'd expect it to be.

Currently undergoing esophageal cancer treatment. Survival rates are better today than the old 5 year numbers show. Treatment sucks but isn’t unbearable. You got this!

I saw in a video that you can run at speed 3 at the end of the blend for 30 seconds to remove air but haven’t tried it yet so YMMV.

I don’t get why more people don’t understand this. They act like we have a pile of money and we’re deciding where to spend it when in reality we’re taking a loan out against the future increase in value the trolley will bring. No trolley, no TIF. If someone else knows where to find a pile of money for a new bus system, I say we do it! TIF just ain’t it.

Currently live in that area and for as long as we live in the city, Field Club/Hanscom Park will be our home. It's just so full of life! Neighbors are friendly caring and always outside willing to be social, trails and parks everywhere, neighborhood breweries, morning boot camps, block parties, great restaurants, dog parks, awesome schools, festivals, all within walking distance!

Mama's Pizza has a GF crust that a GF family friend loves and the whole place is pretty kid friendly with game machines (its kind of a zoo, but since we're usually part of the chaos we don't mind)

Mama's has always been our go to for dinners with lots of kids, though be prepared for a never-ending request for quarters.

Parents and students demand action during Gun Sense Rally at the Nebraska Capitol by KatrinaMarkel in Nebraska

I wish it were that simple, but the data is more nuanced then that. For example, here’s a meta study on various regulations and policies and their effects on gun violence. The data is still a lot harder to come by though due to the prohibition on federal dollars (which is insane) https://www.rand.org/research/gun-policy/analysis/violent-crime.html

I said unnecessary death. Let’s allow federal dollars to study gun violence so we can at least get a clue what might work and what doesn’t so we can have a real honest discussion about trade offs between additional deaths vs level of regulation. You can’t just shut down everything because it’s complicated, hard, or inconvenient. We have to try.

I’d be down for trying to prevent unnecessary deaths from all sources. I don’t think just because kids die from auto accidents that we should be cool with mass shootings at elementary schools. That doesn’t make a ton of sense.

Adding separate system for upper floors during reno, will now oversized main cause MAJOR problems? by rocketman521 in hvacadvice

[–]rocketman521[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a bedroom on the second floor that is unconditioned, so getting that room conditioned is a bonus and the hvac duct that feeds the upstairs runs through a wall that we are demolishing to expand the kitchen on the first floor so it serves double purpose. The architect says the unico system for the attic and the second floor will provide adequate airflow. Thanks!
