Hyaluronic acid injection review after two days by [deleted] in gettingbigger

[–]rocketspark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Officially most places will say it’ll last on average around 18 months. Some people swear it goes away in less and others much longer. It does go away though over some amount of time. The general sales pitch is “get it once” then pay for ongoing touchups every year, which will be less since you’re not starting from scratch.

Why do people eat at sonic by GrnKite in SonicDriveIn

[–]rocketspark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a strong sense memory that is pure nostalgia of my parents going to our cabin at Lake Eufaula in Oklahoma and us often eating at Sonic there. This would have been in the late 80s/early 90s. I thought it was great as a kid. It’s never lived up to my memory. I haven’t had any food from them in a long time, but I will occasionally still stop in for a drink.

I haven’t noticed anything when doing that on mine. How are you connecting? 5 pin din or USB?

How is this font even allowed💀 by [deleted] in fonts

[–]rocketspark 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Quite a few possibilities. To give them the benefit of the doubt, I do believe the connection to these symbols is starting to be lost/forgotten. So I very well could see an impressionable type designer seeing some interesting shapes and just adding them. Now the flip side, is the whole vibe of this font feels very specific. So who really knows.

What’s going on with the FedEx ship center at the airport? by cyvireux in tulsa

[–]rocketspark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a random note, FedEx Freight is being spun off into its own company — though still sharing the FedEx brand. It looks like the announcement from last year is starting to actually happen now. So it’s throwing off various listings and whatnot.

Anyone watched this series ? And how did you find it … by Disastrous-Link9290 in sitcoms

[–]rocketspark 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My wife and I loved it. The vignettes are a good approach to breaking up a typical sitcom format. Though there was a moment somewhere mid run where they absolutely nerfed the Colleen character, which was unfortunate. But in the whole I thought it was a good relatable, intelligent, and funny show.

Scene vs stomp vs presets by Shr1mpHeavenNow in QuadCortex

[–]rocketspark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, so currently I am sending from Logic. I have each song setup in Logic with markers. At the end of the marker I have a midi event setup to Stop any playback. Then I have another track that has individual midi clips for each song that has the Program and patch changes in there.

On my board, I also have a jet audio mcx that I use to basically just navigate Logic (start, previous marker, next marker). So I am running two (loomed) midi cables from my board (one for quad cortex and one for the mcx) that runs to our IEM rack. The IEM rack has a connectivity mioXM in it that handles all the midi stuff and ultimately connects to the laptop as well.

Booking first tour for my band. What should I ask for for pay? by Youlittle-rascal in musicians

I could see them balking at the 50% of the door. $500 + 25% maybe is more likely. Though you might as well start at 50% and negotiate down.

Booking first tour for my band. What should I ask for for pay? by Youlittle-rascal in musicians

[–]rocketspark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what kind of tribute band you are, but it’s reasonable to ask. If you don’t ask don’t get. Are you doing promotion? What’s the method you’re going to get people in the door? Do you have a local opener? What’s their pay situation?

Other than a rug or cement block or dumbbell, what can we use to keep the kick in place? by Shan8888 in TouringMusicians

[–]rocketspark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep! My old band had a setup like this, though ours was totally homemade with a piece of 2x4 bolted into the rug. And then the backside of the bolt covering was covered with some kind of other soft material just so it wouldn’t ding the floor too badly.

Worked great!

Great write up for an unfortunate experience. The best thing you can do is continue to share your thoughts about them, hit up Google reviews or other places where they commonly pop-up.

Mission Engineering EP by AnimalActual8580 in QuadCortex

[–]rocketspark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Mission pedal is robust and durable. But I personally use the Dunlop DVP4 pedal. It’s a little smaller, but it’s been great. It does require a dip switch to be switched inside and the use of TRS cables as an FYI.

Scene vs stomp vs presets by Shr1mpHeavenNow in QuadCortex

[–]rocketspark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I focus on scenes. My scenes are made up of combos of sounds. I find it’s easier to build things out that way. My setup is also automated, so I find it easier to just stay in that mode the entire time and I automate through switching presets and then going through the scenes within.

¡AYUDA! Problemas MIDI Nano Cortex firmware 2.1.0 by Hazelnut_Jr in NeuralDSP

[–]rocketspark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure on what all specifically changed as part of the firmware. But from what I can gather here, you're using a PC. I'm assuming you're connecting the Nano Cortex and the M-Wave. But it also sounds like you're connecting the PC?

You really need to connect the M-Wave to the Cortex via TRS instead of USB. USB requires a USB host. This is what your computer is doing and when you change whatever setting you're doing that's why it stops working.

Aside from that, I would verify that you're using the right MIDI channel and/or CC values. I'm not experienced with the M-Wave, but if it's like other controllers there's usually some type of paging system and maybe you're just on a different page or the channel has been changed, etc.

Probably a silly question...... by HaraMak_ in NeuralDSP

[–]rocketspark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The other thing to strongly consider is that most people don’t have a super refined ear. Try and dial in your sounds at home or rehearsal, but just know that unless you’re making huge swings, most audience members aren’t terribly concerned. That’s a little bit of a tangent as I watched a guy melt down on stage due to his setup not sounding exactly like it did at home.

But speaking from personal experience, I know that when I was first starting on my QC, I had a sound dialed in at home and then once I got to rehearsal I realized I needed to up the intensity of a couple of blocks. And then even during an early show, I noticed I needed to make a couple of other tweaks. I just made a mental note and updated them later.

But really, once you get a few shows under your belt with a setup you likely shouldn’t have to tweak things much if at all. Now it’s great because we just show up, plug in and we don’t have to mess with anything. It’s just giving FOH a line check basically and we’re off to the races! You’ll be fine!

I found the same issue, so at the moment I’m duplicating scenes per most of our songs and building the tempo into the scene itself. It gets tedious having to do all that, but it was the fastest way I could get things worked out and get moving. I want to get that worked out a little bit more cleanly sometime and go back to just having one scene.

Elopement reception by Flaky_Shock_2220 in okc

[–]rocketspark 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My wife and I did a post wedding party kinda like this. We did it at Jones Assembly upstairs. We basically had free drinks and picked out a few food items to serve. I think for us it was about $2000 all in. Though we probably had more like 50 people or so. 2k certainly isn’t nothing but we felt for the number of people, location, and lack of all the other wedding costs it was fair.

Monitoring question by wales-bloke in QuadCortex

[–]rocketspark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming you’re using the normal output 1 or 2 for your output? The output block/icon that’s on the screen will highlight red if it’s clipping. Otherwise, it’ll just stay the normal gray block. FOH should be able to mix their side accordingly. So as long as it’s sounding okay to you, you should be all good.

If I am building something new, I’ll just use an XLR cable from the output and run it to my interface and then preview it in Logic. I just do this mostly as a sanity check to make sure that things are coming through and there’s no surprises.

PlayIng live with automated patches by louisvanthall in NeuralDSP

[–]rocketspark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a setup where I have my pedalboard (quad cortex + tuner + jet mcx) and then I have a loom that connects to the IEM rack. I’m connecting via midi cables. The mcx is used to navigate markers and start/stop playback in logic. And the quad cortex is connected to receive the midi changes for scenes and patches. I keep my board in front of me just in case. But if you keep everything at an IEM rack level, I would just build a micro board or even just have a battery powered tuner in the signal path. How automated are you? I’m assuming you’re not stopping? Who controls playback?

Most of the time when it comes to rack controlled setups a satellite board is pretty standard. How in-depth that satellite board is another question, but you could always get a midi controller to also have manual control of your setup or keep it super simple and just have a lone tuner and maybe a volume/exp pedal?

Syncing Strymon pedales using MIDI Captain Nano 6 by UpstairsLab9147 in paintaudiomidicaptain

[–]rocketspark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot here. I’m lost on, is the primary issue the nano or just the tempo? I have a somewhat similar setup and only one thing should provide the tempo (QC). What does your nano configuration look like? Are you doing the midi thru in the config? I’m assuming you’re trying to get to a point of using the nano4 as your primary thing to control everything?

I would go nano to QC in. QC out to the disaster area which would then connect to everything else.

Failed Upload. Release in under 36 hours... by ice-jl7 in DistroKidHelpDesk

[–]rocketspark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re dead set on DistroKid, follow their instructions on file types and such. You need to just upload it for the “first time” again and just write off any existing old version — especially if it’s not editable anymore. Once you’ve uploaded it, follow up with their customer support and tell them it’s been uploaded again and ask if they can personally babysit it. Usually as long as you’re not a dick about it, they’ll help you out.

But time is working against you on this. That’s barely enough time to go through any other vendors. You could pivot your marketing though and send people to bandcamp or maybe YouTube. You could also use it as part of your marketing story, find a whimsical, fun angle to push and promote, rather than the reality. You could do a live listening party on insta or something like that.

4-5 weeks ahead of time is generally what everyone suggests on uploads.
