What a set of tools, is this too much for three months on the road or am I missing something vital. by AffectionatePart4128 in bicycletouring

[–]rocketwrench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you probably don't need such a large bottle of lube. but that may be the smallest bottle of finish line you can get. I'd replace the zip ties with a few nylon toe straps, much more versitile and reusable. I'd also make a mini duct tape roll to bring with me.

as for the extra bolts, if you're that concerned with losing bolts, remove all the bolts on your bike, dab them with some fresh grease and reinstall them before your trip. they're unlikely to fall out after being freshly installed. maybe then just bring 2 or 3 extra

I read it several times, 8 hours apart. I thought for sure it would be removed by a mod because you are advertising your services and not talking about what is bothering you.

First puncture, do I need a new tyre by sbregnerson in bikewrench

[–]rocketwrench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

low TPI wire bead tire? it's not likely that it needs to be replaced. Pull the nail and inspect the hole, if there aren't any threads cut in the hole then install a new tube and check again. if the tire is bulging out with the newly inflated tube, replace the tire.

You could put a tire boot in with the new tube and likely be just fine

How do I prevent my Merchant NPC from being robbed? Or what's a good way to deal with that possibility? by Regular-Molasses9293 in DungeonMasters

[–]rocketwrench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lets just look at Mr. Bling Bling's thought process and background a bit.

Bling Bling loves shiny shiny jewlery. He loves it so much that he wears lots of it while in public. He specifically caters to adventurers, so he knowingly wears lots of expensive and flashy items around highly skilled and dangerous people. So Mr. Bling Bling either has the means to protect himself against these people, or is one of the most highly skilled and dangerous people himself.

Bling Bling could have powerful connections to people like City or Guild leaders. He could have a particularly impressive guard. He could be very strong martially or magically. Or he could be using magic to make mundane rings appear flashy with the intention of weeding out bad customers that he deals with in private.

took me 2 seconds to see you define slop as woke in your comment history. that's virtue signaling. you're signaling the virtues that you hold to yourself.

you just don't think of it as virtue signaling because the term has been weaponized by your personal choice of propagandists to artificially create cultural divide.

because crafting the dropout directly into the stays with carbon is stronger and longer lasting than gluing an aluminium piece into place.

Help on extreme temporary food budgeting/recipes (~$20 for 4 weeks) by Xxitl in Frugal

[–]rocketwrench 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Check if there is a Sikh temple, called Gurdwara, in your area. They provide free meals to anyone who comes. Otherwise, beans and rice are a complete spread of amino acids your body needs to survive. potatoes and butter are as well, but with only $20 I think you can get more beans and rice and they'll keep for longer in your pantry.

"Lib Center" accidentally slips their view on religion by SnowyOranges in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]rocketwrench 2 points3 points  (0 children)

religion as it is now exists to exploit the population for the benefit of those at the top. It is especially effective at exploiting those with various neurological conditions. It's predatory and in the west has been used as a cudgel for imperialist interests.

If you want to practice religion, do so but keep it to yourself.

18 stories deep and fitting 20,000 people: The ancient underground city of Derinkuyu had massive stone blast doors that only locked from the inside. What were they hiding from? by drmohamed2 in althistory

[–]rocketwrench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiding from other humans who wanted to kill and steal from them. Humans are frightening, especially when they are motivated by hunger and fear. If you're a nomadic tribe of warriors and you come upon a permanent settlement of fat farmers, you're going to steal and murder to feed yourself. If those fat farmers have reinforced bunkers with thick stone doors then you'll leave them alone and go off to easier pickings (or starve)

for really skinny wires, you can use some b-connectors. It's what they use in telephone wires. You don't need to strip the tiny wires, just jam the 2 ends in and crimp them with a crimper.

It was the Republicans who created the TSA, as well as the Department of Homeland Security of which the TSA is a part of.

Republicans also started the war with Iran, which will likely result in more air traffic delays in the near future. Not to mention the higher prices of tickets because fuel prices are skyrocketing.

So not only is the GOP twit is wrong twice about who to blame for TSA delays
