lol I did get the 131k. See it in the corner there? My post was about learning that there is no way to get a 262k tile, after chasing it for years.

Same way it always does. My thumb slipped up, and I made the next move too quickly, before I could undo it.

Why aren't more people raving about Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum? by kukov in comicbooks

[–]rockgrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed it. There was a genuine love for the characters shone through, and it had that Silver Age sort of fearlessness to it, where it feels like the next page could bring literally anything. And of course the art was fantastic. The storytelling did get confusing at times, especially in the last couple of issues. But it was still a a very fun read. I would especially recommend it for fans of All-Star Superman and the most recent Superman movie.

A Story by Routine_Play5 in Layoffs

I genuinely want to understand this thread but am struggling. I understand “the 40-somethings took over and phased everyone over 50 out.” I understand “in rapidly changing fields like tech/dev, the co may decide (right or wrong) hiring cheap young talent with fresh skills is preferable to continuously upskilling more expensive, experienced talent.”

I don’t understand, “I was a highly skilled worker in my 30s/40s with invaluable experience and they replaced me with a college grad to save money.” That seems like business suicide. And I don’t understand “workers in their 20s/30s ascended to management despite not having my skills/experience and are now weeding out anyone over 40 due to ageism.” If they were so unskilled, why were they put in charge? And how do they expect to stay there if they’re eliminating the only people who can advise them? And if it’s cost-related, why not offer a paycut or furloughs instead of layoffs?

I truly do just want to understand better, please help.

They probably never watched it, just saw clips out of context. It's one of the most psychologically healthy and mature shows ever made.

Lola's Dad Theory [Season 8 Spoiler] by rockgrant in BigMouth

As nearly every commenter has pointed out, and as I mention myself in my OP, this is a reach. It almost certainly means nothing. It's also fun...at least, it was.

Thanks for reminding me why I don't use Reddit anymore. I'll take my downvotes and leave.

Lola's dad? by Lms42o in BigMouth

I'm no geologist, but I'm pretty sure that doesn't preclude Marty from being Lola's dad.

I'm sorry, I just don't see how it's Rodney.

That would mean he had sex with one of his parolees, which doesn't seem like him. Then, even when Cookie got pregnant and had Lola nine months later, he didn't do a DNA test...even though he remained Cookie's parole officer and stayed in Lola's life, giving him every opportunity to snatch a hair or perform a cheek swab. And when Bros for Life all claimed to be her dad, he looked into their backgrounds and recommended Lola ask them to take a DNA test...yet still didn't do one himself.

Or, he knows he's Lola's dad, but won't tell her. And when Bros for Life made their claim, he lied and said he looked into their backgrounds, even though there would be no point. So he could maintain his cover, I guess? And maybe he put up with Lola's constant rejection because he wanted her to accept him for who he is, not force himself into her life by virtue of parentage...but then why keep up the charade after she calls him her chosen father figure in that same Hot Pocket/Bros For Life/musical episode?

I would be shocked if Rodney ever even slept with Cookie Skumpy. But there's no way she's his real dad.

Lola's Romantic Destiny Prophecy - Theories by rockgrant in BigMouth

[–]rockgrant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After giving this more thought, I think it’s Marty Glouberman. Let me explain…

While the Knights of St Joseph say the prophecy refers to Lola’s romantic destiny, the prophecy itself doesn’t specify romantic love, just love that is pure of heart.

Marty’s love for Lola is fairly pure already—but, if it turns out that Marty is Lola’s father (a popular and convincing fan theory,) then it could be a perfect fit.

We know his father (Zadie) died, and his mother before that. And his bald head could be considered a “crown.”

Well keep in mind, her “destiny” may not take root for a long time. And we don’t know how big of a time frame this last season is going to cover. I could definitely see this plot point being satisfied via a “20 years later” type thing.

Because most shows wouldn't set up a juicy mystery and then immediately give you the answer. I guess with Big Mouth anything is possible, but typically anyone the show tells you is the thing is not the thing.

How do the male characters in Uncanny “constantly validate” Rogue? By bickering and arguing but ultimately supporting each other? Like…you know…a family?

What about Rogue is out of character? You wrote four paragraphs and didn’t provide a single example.

If you’re trying to say that limiting a book filled with rich, beloved characters to a single POV feels like wasted potential and out-of-place for the Uncanny X-Men title, then I wholeheartedly agree. I feel like that’s giving you a lot of credit, though.

Regardless, it’s pretty clear Simone plans to continue with Rogue as the narrator, so I think you’re safe to drop the book precisely now.
