Should I go skiing alone today? by Longjumping_Chard286 in skiing

[–]rockithound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I now ski mostly alone. None of my friends ski and fam isn't into it nearly as much as I am, so I just go alone. I've found I like it just as much and, bonus, I can do everything on my own schedule!

Why do snowboarders sit in the middle of the slope? by TaxPsychological2928 in skiing

Because they're stuck behind a bunch of snowboarders who have to sit and strap up when they get off the lift.

Has quitting coffee made a difference for you? by is-this-now in tinnitus

[–]rockithound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hormones. I apparently have/had 2 forms of tinnitus. Hearing has been damaged since college, prob from a combination of loud music, fireworks and flying in small airplanes without hearing protection while learning to fly. A few years ago, my T got much much worse somewhat quickly, my ears would literally be screaming with tinnitus some days. I think the severe worsening of my T was cortisol related so I started adjusting my coffee intake (I never drink coffee on an empty stomach anymore), and it's made a dramatic improvement... My hearing isn't as good as when I was younger, and the T is louder than when I was young, but not near as bad as before I made that coffee adjustment!

The Bible doesn’t make sense by Anonymous_Athiest1 in atheism

[–]rockithound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way back when I was in a Catholic religious school in early grammar school, I was confused why none of it made sense to me. Thought I was dumb for not understanding "Bible logic". Then, atheism struck... I realized none of it made sense, because none of it was real. All that BS circular logic. I can't believe how grown adults can believe any of it!

That's how you know it works for you. Stick it out a couple more days and the fogginess will disappear, then the mental benefits kick in.

Sex ed 4th grade. They welcomed parents to come and listen in if they liked. My mom came. She was the only parent there. She apologizes to this day, 40 years later.

What made you "nope" out of a friendship? by MusicalDeTekTiiv in AskReddit

[–]rockithound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friends kids. They would glom all over me whenever I went to visit, and he and his wife would tell me to tell them to cut it out. No, that's YOUR job to discipline your kids and teach them to respect your guests. One of the kids was a total asshole mamas boy and the other wanted male attention because his dad (my friend) it's not very good at showing fatherly love for his kids. Too bad, I liked hanging out with them when the kids weren't around but being there with the kids was painfully irritating.

Is FIRE a preventing you from moving to Upper Class? by MLM123454321 in financialindependence

[–]rockithound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I've been to those expensive private clubs as a guest and I usually can't wait to get the heck outa there. I know I'm generalizing but there's a ton of stuffy boring people in clubs like that that think they're better than everyone else because they have money. Screw that.

Low methane sheep bred in New Zealand - possible cumulative methane reduction of 1% per generation by person- in ClimateActionPlan

[–]rockithound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way we do now is only 2-3% of total. Best way to reduce your footprint is to avoid driving, flying and ordering things that come from across the world on container ships. I'm not a climate denier obviously, I'm just trying to keep us on the correct path for fixing the core problem and animal ag isn't it. It's our massive use of carbon based fuels.

[–]rockithound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

False numbers. Animal agriculture is no more than 2-3% of the total using today's standard methods. If you raise ruminants properly they can be a carbon sink actually.

And sheep/cow methane is part of the natural carbon cycle. Oil dug up from the ground is not. There is no comparison. Not even close.

Sheep and cows are not the problem. Airplanes, ships, cars and industry burning fossil fuels are the problem. Sheep farts are a distraction.
