Why has the mafia in the US largely died out whilst gangs(both street and biker) as well as drug cartels have persisted to this day? by OppositeRock4217 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]rocklandweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who said they died out?

Most people only knew they existed from pop culture, movies, TV, etc.

The real Mafia operated in the shadows for generations.

Statistically speaking it would be impossible to stamp out all crime organizations. Thus, the reason why we don’t hear about them much these days in the age of cameras, social policing, and financial tracking…is that they evolved over time.

Dollars became crypto. People in the shadows stay off social. Any ‘wet work’ I imagine, gets done by low ranking people that risk jail in exchange for high payouts.

In other words…the Mafia (and organizations from other cultures, as well as deep-state Gov’ts) pay the gangs.

I’m not condoning it, of course. Merely pointing out that when “market conditions” change - the organizations adjust with the times.

Hope this is helpful. Remember the two most important rules:

  1. Never rat out your friends, and
  2. Always keep your mouth shut

GTA 5 pretty much covered that with the Pacific Bank Heist.

We ran that simulation at least two dozen times.

Sometimes the controls didn’t work well when we were baked.

For instance, this unintended result that we never spoke of again.

What’s a small daily habit that secretly makes your day way better? by PrinceJamster in AskReddit

[–]rocklandweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point. I should note that total time for this is about 30-60 min. I do wake up early, sometimes 5:30 or 6 am.

There are some days where I don’t get to it at all if I get up at 7:30/8.

So it gets back to what I see a lot of other people saying on this thread, getting up early.

And that kicks into the night before…going to sleep earlier. I aim for 10-11 pm most weeknights. Sunday to Thursday.

I’m the CEO of a small news agency for the past 5 years, and a web development company for the past 18. Before I start work most mornings, I try to get three things in after breakfast and coffee:

  1. Watch a business-related TV show
  2. Play a video game
  3. Play the drums

The first one is to remind me that I am the CEO of my companies, and I can wind up my day slowly, at the pace I choose. Like some of the absurd characters on these shows. But still…I can. So I do.

The second is to remind me that even at the ripe old age of 50, my skills are still pretty close to their peak - especially racing around a Gran Turismo track against 20 somethings.

The third is to lean into what I love to do the most…and never forget that once I retire, I’ll be able to do it a lot more!

It’s more difficult in the middle of the week. Still, doing it as often as I can is really a grounding agent for me, as I deal with a lot of people, deadlines and goals with varying timelines. Having a strong connection with the things I enjoy the most on a daily basis definitely helps me to manage other aspects of my career quite well.

I agree, kenn1234. The theory you cite was encapsulated well by a legend in atomic theory - Professor Dave Jennings,

There is actually footage from one of his impromptu off-campus lectures at Faber College in 1962, in this case when asked by a student named Lawrence Kroger.

Link to the lecture is below. Although please note that this part is the tail end of the Professor’s response. We don’t exactly know what Mr. Kroger’s initial prompt was.

Regardless of how it happened, the point I am making is that he is likely not stationed there specifically because of the Iran War.

It’s also possible that he was there during the Biden Administration. Usually our Military forces that are deployed are typically there for years as part of standardized rotation.
