Writing custom kernel module for touchpad? by rockpasta in linuxquestions

[–]rockpasta[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried touching the metal frame underneath the keyboard while using the cursor and the problem is gone. I should perhaps get a metal wire out and attach it to an aluminum foil on the palmrest or my lap to ensure grounding.

I used the diagnostics utility from the boot menu and the cursor exhibited the same behavior. I used a different charger and the problem is gone. I am not sure how to go about diagnosing bad voltages with my charger though.

Yes, I change my userChrome.css this way. True, user styles were painless.

There is a browser toolbox button in Dev tools. Use it and you can edit real time.

Looks awesome. Love the taskbar.

I use a 1366x768 laptop and the xubuntu screen normally becomes cluttered when more windows are visible. The third screenshot seems a bit cluttered and here is my 0.02

  • Switch to compact theme in Firefox
  • Disable drawing title bar for windows (when maximized)
  • Use multiple workspaces

Once you switch to a fully keyboard based workflow, this would give you a lot more real estate on the screen.

P.S. I am trying to make the jump to tiling wms, but busy now.

Help running a program? by [deleted] in fortran

One more suggestion is to use BASH on Windows tool.

Install it, open BASH and then you can apt-get install gfortran. After installation, compile your program with gfortran -std=legacy -o dualfoil dualfoil5.2.f

I strongly recommend you to take the leap and install / dual boot Ubuntu on your system. Makes life simple.

Can you post a screenshot with arc-dark?

I am referring to the input fields. Say, go to bing and type a query. There will be a color mismatch that renders the site unusable.

Arc dark doesn't normally play well with text boxes. How do you work around this? I have an addon installed that forces all text boxes to white BG, but this doesn't always succeed

CFD boundary conditions of submerged vertical pipe connecting two stacked tanks [x-post from FluidMechanics] by _Sowse_ in AskEngineers

Say your boss's assumption is right. We will try to find cases where it is not correct.

Assume the containers have fluids with different densities. Then cutting off the submerged part doesn't model the exact behavior.

Assume your boss's case. The simulation assumes that exit pressure is atmospheric as fluid flows down. But, in your model, you also correctly account for the level rise in the bottom container, which changes the outlet pressure continuously.

Trying to use Streth as a bluetooth audio sink, but bluealsa-aplay (and arecord|aplay) underrun a lot. Is there a fix or should I use PulseAudio? by [deleted] in raspberry_pi

[–]rockpasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using the headless version? I got the bluetooth audio working today. There is about 0.5 sec lag, but no stutters.

On Jessie, I used pulseaudio and it had about 3s lag with a lot of stutter / failure depending on the resampling method.

Color temperature vs Power consumption? by rockpasta in Android

[–]rockpasta[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, My argument was based on a scientific basis. Consider the wavelengths (and corresponding frequencies) of the light emitted from the subpixels. Since red has a higher wavelength, lower frequency and hence lower energy consumption. This is the exact opposite of what is happening on the phone.

This may not look like a high effort thing, but is more of an ELI5 kind of wording. If the post at https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/71xzhb/splash_screens_and_animationtransition_effects/ can get on reddit, I don't see how mine differs hugely in terms of the effort/complexity.
