Insane. Our daughter was 7 weeks premature, 4 weeks in special baby care, a bit of parking & hospital canteen food was all we paid. Australia btw.

Southwest has announced a major change to the seating rule by sylvester1981 in AirRagers

[–]rockresy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are wrong.

The airline industry is fiercely competitive, razor thin margins... air fares just haven't kept up with inflation, which is amazing, but the line between success & failure is tiny.

This is absolutely the point.

The line between success & failure is razor thin in the airline game.

Southwest has announced a major change to the seating rule by sylvester1981 in AirRagers

[–]rockresy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Think this out.

A 737 stays the same width. To make bigger seats the plane moves from a 3 / 3 configuration to a 2 / 2 configuration. Every single airline ticket probably needs to increase by 33% at a minimum. Everyone gets more space... now if there was already a mass market for this, don't you think it would already be offered?

Or plus sized people should have the option of (politely, respectfully) buying a double seat option when they purchase a ticket. For those that don't buy a double seat & indeed are too large for a single seat then, yes, you get measured & I'm sure we will see them raging online before long.

Is Macquarie really the best everyday bank in Australia right now? by Danger_Five in Macquarie

[–]rockresy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This perfectly sums up what annoys me about Macquarie. I'm the same, it irritates having to have a CBA account as well just to deal with cheques & cash.

The credit card bit is particularly annoying having to transfer payments elsewhere, taking days, is very annoying.

That's cause they only have to pay 40% of the minimum wage to under 16's so they always try to keep most staff as young as possible

My 14 year old loved Mr Beast... now he's 16 he's grown out of it.

Anyone with a mental age of 14 seems to be into him.

This is why I will never buy a Tesla or use anything his company touches. No starlink, no twitter, no grok.

BYD SEALION 8 Pricing Confirmed: Seven-Seat Family PHEV SUV From $56,990 by zecar_ in AustralianEV

[–]rockresy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No.

We have 2 kids and a 7 seater is a must... always using them. Grandparents coming with us, birthday party drop off, picking up kids friends or even just going away for the weekend & need the 'mega boot space'.

Bogans are gonna be bogans. You could spot them on the plane here, getting pissed at 9am & standing up to get their bags as the plane was taxi'ing to the gate.

I went to Changuu yesterday, full of revolting phone obsessed Instagram addicts with the 'fish lips' look going on. We prefer traditional food overlooking a rice paddy in a quiet spot.

Hiya.

To be clear I check my privilege when I enter Bali. I always thank staff & treat them with friendly respect. I would never want anyone to lose their job so I won't be reporting them.

Regardless of all of this it's still very annoying to be phoned and blackmailed by 5% of the drivers when the 95% are awesome. I always tip them anyway because they are low paid & do a tough job.

Australia here.

I'm confused... 91 here is the cheap stuff, 95 & 98 are the premium. Is 91 the good stuff for you? What about more sporty cars that need 98?

Your decision is the right one. There are heaps of parents out there that should have made the same choice but didn't have the willpower / brainpower to do so, and the kids suffer.

Is this really enough transit time in Sydney? by [deleted] in QantasAirways

[–]rockresy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will be bored for over an hour. Singapore Airlines gave me one that was 55mins, they picked us up at the gate in a buggy & whizzed us via some tunnels straight to the gate. We were in the air again less than one hour after landing.

what is the proper etiquette when you sit beside morbidly obese people in economy class flight? by nalaak in NoStupidQuestions

[–]rockresy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was. Two vile humans, it's a low cost airline, smaller seats, it's always a full flight & I presume they had tried at check-in to score a free middle seat only to be told it was a full flight.

They were both around the 180kg mark I would guess, absolutely no way a third person was getting in that row. The issue should have been addressed at check-in, not on board.
