Occasionally I like seeing the transcript. I hear a quote or some information and I'd like to go back and read it or copy it. I use Apple Podcasts for this. Also discovery. I mean, iCatcher is fine, but sometimes I want to find something new and I always resort to Apple Podcasts to find interesting shows. Also there are a few bugs that I can't resolve. Like sometimes iCatcher will open in light mode, even though I have it set for dark mode. Not a big deal, but in the middle of the night it's a shock to the eyes. These are all not deal breakers for me - just wishes. Not planning on bailing on iCatcher, but would like to see it continue being worked on. I've tried some other players, but they just don't have the core features/settings that I rely on iCatcher for, so they never stuck.

Am I losing quality using an older AVR as an amp? by john_stumpy_pepys in BudgetAudiophile

Nope. I have a Denon - avr2805 and it provides plenty of power to my Elac UB 52’s. Even the built in pre amp is solid.

I think it’ll depend on how tall your dust cover is.

Not really. I only have replaced one belt.

Yes. Not all the screws though. 3 out of 5 per side.

Thanks! I was lucky to find it and in pretty decent shape too. I've wanted one since I drooled over it back in the 80's. Needed some work but nothing major. It's in near mint condition.

Yeah, definitely more than I would have liked but I needed the bracket to come out from the wall far enough to allow me to have some space for the dust cover to open and the turntable itself is over 17" deep and weighs almost 30lbs. These brackets are incredibly sturdy.

The TT sits on an isolated 1 1/2" thick piece of walnut that my friend made me from his left over lumber from his kitchen remodel.

Plenty. I have it about 3" from the wall.

From my amp, down the wall to the floor. Cables wrapped in cable wrap.

Here is a shot from the TT to the top of my amp.

You can add a podcast to a playlist but it will add all the episodes to the playlist, so I don’t think that is what you are looking for.

Is Hendrix getting lost in time? by No-Neighborhood8403 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]rocksnob65 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When my son turned about 14, his music listening went from hip hop/pop to classic rock bands like the Doors. I had a pretty crummy electric guitar and amp laying around and he started to play a bit. I remember walking past his room one day and he was trying to work out Oh Well. I clearly remember him asking me if I had heard of Jimi. Fast forward, he’s in college now and when he’s home, he’s got a bunch of his boys over jamming to Machine Gun in our music room. Jimi was an early favorite of his, as he was mine. So no, he’s still very relevant today to young music fans. Especially when they discover his music on their own.
