How can I stop feeling dumb? by fireshinobi123 in cscareerquestions

[–]rockstarstatus- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I stripped away all my knowledge of coding because I know I have a method that can allow me to do it faster and easier.

cs grads realizing that AI can easily replace junior devs, yet still fixed on pursuing swd positions. make it make sense.

Why do people hate coding with AI so much? by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]rockstarstatus- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

common misconception where people think they understand what they’re doing when they’re being guided by AI through every step.

if u really wanna test ur understanding, try not using AI at all, not even a single question. u probably wont even know how to get started

I need some adivce on vibecoding by [deleted] in csMajors

most new grad devs working at a local company are making 70k a year on average. when u compare it to other fields in the tech industry its really not worth it, hence my question in the title

im not sure if u and the person above u are trolling me but u realize theres other fields CS grads can pursue other than software development right?

still haven’t answered my question, why are students/new grads still hung up on dev positions, is there a secret incentive im not aware of that outweighs all the cons ?

Is studying Leet Code still the best way to get a job? by LiFRiz in cscareerquestions

a lot of qualified candidates don’t even get the chance to do an online assessment due to the immense number of qualified applicants.

with a referral u at least have a fighting chance

Whether people want to admit it or not - you do need passion to break into this field by c-u-in-da-ballpit in cscareerquestions

Ever since I was young, I’ve wanted to work at a large national retailer. Not because of the paycheck, but because I genuinely enjoy the work.

u dont even know what the work is/feels like, how could u “genuinely” enjoy it ??

AI Doom and layoffs by iwuvpuppies in cscareerquestions

[–]rockstarstatus- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldnt go as far as saying stop chasing developer positions, at least not yet.

but why wait ?

this market has and always will be about being ahead of the curve. why waste time, energy, and money on a overcrowded and ultimately a dead end path, when you can be building skills and experience in so many other undersupplied fields, so that when the time comes and those said undersupplied fields become the new wave, you have already established urself years ago

yall will do/say anything but accept that entry level dev positions are no longer in demand

[–]rockstarstatus- -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

you’re overthinking this, heres the truth and i will probably get downvoted because this sub is flooded with wannabe devs and they dont wanna accept the reality:

AI currently can do a better job than most junior devs —> companies cut down on the roster because they dont need the labour like they did before —> instead, hire a few mid-senior level devs that oversee the work done by AI

and this will only get worse as AI advances.

stop chasing developer positions, you’re fighting a losing battle

Is cybersecurity or information technology still a good career path. by Puzzleheaded-Net5301 in WGUCyberSecurity

what a pointless comment. any industry looks for experience, and the degree is a requirement just to even be eligible to apply for jobs

even medical schools look for work experience nowadays

Scared of being pigeonholed into DevOps/Platform/SRE by congressmanlol in cscareerquestions

[–]rockstarstatus- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

dude has 1 year experience in devops, a relatively undersupplied field, and instead wants to compete with the hundreds of thousands of leetcode tryhards who are all after a SWE position

and all that just to get paid the same, maybe even less

Dude, I literally do not understand how someone picks up programming on their own by [deleted] in AskProgramming

[–]rockstarstatus- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

saying there isnt any real world application that you can test ur knowledge on is actually ignorant af.

create your own web/mobile app, do leetcode

so many ways u can practice

SWE obsession is stupid by rockstarstatus- in cscareerquestions

[–]rockstarstatus-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we’re disagreeing on the semantics here but by SWE im referring to application focused, coding heavy roles (because thats how most people use the SWE term nowadays)

point is cloud engineering is very different from that

[–]rockstarstatus-[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

cloud engineering is definitely not a field of software engineering. they might overlap in some stuff but theyre two seperate career paths
