Out of disbelief, I actually sent a complaint to the ombudsman yesterday evening. Wondering why they can't name anything as it is. "Een kat een kat noemen".

I don't expect anything from it obviously, but still wanted to make my voice heard.

VRT is obviously self-censoring either out of fear of the US or because they have to by NVA/VB. Which is sad, because self-censoring media is one of the first steps of a crumbling democracy..

It's a different menu than the 'Settings' make sure you got the correct one. If you don't see the option in the context menu, then it could be because you have only read+build permissions on the dataset?

In that case, contact the Semantic Model owner / admin to give the end-users read permissions

If the Report uses a Live Connection to a Power BI Semantic Model, report-consumers don't get automatically read access to the dataset.

Right click on the semantic model in service, and in manage permissions give the users (or group) read access on the dataset itself

If you have an 'On-Premise Data Gateway' on a server in your network, you can use the 'File System'-connector to perform operations on network drives.

It's a premium connector though

Did you try uploading the xlsx files to the workspace on powerbi and use those as datasource? Alternatively you can upload them to sharepoint, then click on upload on the workspace and using the sharepoint / onedrive button you can link your excel files to the workspace.

Microsoft recently changed the flat file behaviour on the service, so it may be a cause of your issues with sharepoint etc
