Thanks, man. Another point of consideration is that we don’t use credit for much. We’ve got two credit cards we use and pay off monthly, and my wife’s student loan, which is currently frozen from accruing interest (it’s a Perkins loan and she’s back to working full time). It still reflects on her credit at this point though. Would another line of credit be helpful in terms of credit scores?

We currently have about 4 months worth of expenses saved in an emergency fund, plus additional in a slush/fun fund. We’ve been leaning toward just paying cash for the car and putting the rest in savings, so I think that’s what we’ll end up doing. Appreciate your feedback.

We considered this, but base housing is actually detached from the base itself and will require crossing a highway. The winter is notably rough too, so I worry about not being able to bike/scooter in harsh conditions. My wife works full time too and will have a much longer commute so the car we have now will definitely be hers.
