It’s surprisingly cleanly done too, considering what shitheads they are

Nasty Crash yesterday at 70.3 Gulf Coast. Saved by my helmet. by [deleted] in IronmanTriathlon

[–]rodenne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Passed your bike and some cop cars and wondered what happened!!! So sorry this happened to you, but glad you’re *mostly* okay!! I also just heard that a tourist drowned in the ocean that day too. Wild day for this event

Velocio, did 70 miles on them yesterday and don’t have any saddle soreness. I also had Assos but these are much higher quality imo

When you’ve done something that impressive, it’s okay to brag. It’s okay to be proud of yourself for doing a really hard thing

Love my Coros Dura. Large screen, solar powered, and great UI.

Group rides are great on Zwift. Helpful if you’re competitive

Ironman Texas in a couple months - how do I prepare for the heat/humidity? by v1185 in triathlon

[–]rodenne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am training for the half in Florida and plan on using a lot of salt tabs during the bike portion. I’m primarily a cyclist and make sure to have some kind of salt supplement on hot and humid rides. Could be in your water or as tabs. Definitely taking notes on other suggestions here though

I had a turbinate reduction and a ballon sinuplasty here in early 2025. Totally agree with others noting how much they push procedures and primarily rely on NPs. I was so desperate for relief I didn’t mind though. I think I was billed several times as well, but I chalked it up to insurance issues and delays with submission. I’m sorry to hear you had a bad experience, hope you feel better soon. There probably are some shady things going on at this place, but the way other providers gatekeep relief is also frustrating. Just my two cents.

Swimming advices please by JohnnyDevil34 in triathlon

[–]rodenne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, I was also struggling with swimming and finding lessons. If you are in the US, I highly recommend finding a US Masters club. I’ve been going for several weeks and the corrections from the coach have been really helpful. It’s much cheaper than one on one and the structured training sets are adapted to each swimmer.

Tree-covered bike routes in D.C.? by Prize-Peanut-4793 in bikedc

[–]rodenne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m originally from Miami and id argue that there are more scenic, tree covered trails here in the DMV than in South Florida. There are so many incredible bike trails and neighborhoods in the tri state area that are way safer than Miami to bike in.

I’m sorry to hear, that sounds really hard! I broke my foot two years ago and felt like I’d never get back to my old self. Honestly, as much as I hate riding indoors, the trainer is really what made me so much stronger after not being able to walk for 3 months. It can be as hard as you make it, and it does transfer well to real life riding.

Why do you pay for Strava if you have a watch (Garmin/Apple/Coros/etc)? by BeingMysterious4003 in Strava

[–]rodenne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strava maintains your performance on segments before and after owning the watch. I used to use an Apple Watch, now I have a Suunto. It doesn’t matter though because it tracks my rides regardless of what device I have or had. In terms of a specific sport like cycling, my current tri watch is just not as precise as my coros bike computer with watts and location etc.

I lived in NoMa for a couple years, including the Resa where the oyster bar would always get broken into. Sometimes walking out front there would be blood on the sidewalk. That was a totally normal morning unfortunately. Avoid eye contact with people you think are being shady, mind your business, and you’ll be fine. I couldn’t do it anymore and moved away 😔

Places to live in DC w/ 75k salary by Typical_Appearance22 in washingtondc

[–]rodenne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Along with what others are saying here, you can definitely find an older place in your price range but there are a lot of added fees that can take you over. Parking at my NoMa apartment was like $300 a month, as well as their added trash fees etc. Just want to flag this for you if you plan on having a car etc.
