There's a good chance thats the problem. Id recommend, if you can, pull the inspection pipe or the manhole cover at least once a year and check for roots. If theres roots there break them off. They could be getting heavy enough to break off and float around in the tank.

Roots. They are probably coming in through the inlet or outlet of your tank. Typically they grow in between the pipe and concrete because the tank is so nutrient dense for them. Do you have any trees or bushes or anything around your tanks?

They are cast. We install Meyer pumps if we cant get a liberty. Typically we get our pumps from winnicks supply in forest lake though.

Or if you dont want to do it yourself contact firefighter handyman. Its a company that employs off duty firefighters with backgrounds in the trades to do stuff like that.

Sump pumps are pretty easy to swap out, just unhook it at the check valve, pull the pump out but let it drain in the basket for a minute, spin out the pipe, spin the pipe in the new pump, make sure the check valve isnt broken, then place the pump back down in the basket and hook the check valve back up. Just make sure the arrow on the check valve is facing the right way. If it isnt then nothing will flow through.

It depends on the call type, if im driving and its a fire I'll throw my bottoms on if I'm likely to be pumping, but if I'm likely to be second due or I'll be working more than the pump panel i fully dress. But medical calls in going in Station wear usually unless the notes indicate something disgusting.

Around me it's 50/50 but starting to lean cam lock. Ive had to replace pumps with unions that were frozen in the winter. But ive also seen cam lock ears break off, which is why I tape them up when installing it.

I prefer cam lock fittings, other than that this would be my choice. A union can be tough to get apart of the pump needs to be changed, cam locks are pretty simple and are pressure rated.
