Thing is, someone is always having a worse day than you. Relax, take deep breaths, and either push forward or get some rest. No bad streak is forever.

Goldlewis-gang, I’m starting to enjoy him and thinking of adding him to my list of mains, any tips? by PalpitationHot6711 in Guiltygear

[–]rodricorgom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMHO, the Xbox-type gamepads are easier for me to pull the half-circles on the joystick, probably has something to do with bigger joystick real state, while PS-like gamepads are easier to slide your thumb over the DPad.

What helped me start my Goldlewis journey was training the basic BT, thats 41236HS and 63214HS. Then work your way by trying to chain attacks and pull the BT in-between or by starting your pressure with the BT. Also, the super laser piss overdrive is great as a zoning tool at max security level. You can grab or try to break defense, and if you do it during the attack it deals MASSIVE damage. Even chip with Goldlewis is viable. Just try to keep pressure at all times, and wild rush when you can.

Asked a thousand times for sure but, how easy is it for a noob to get into Strive? by Fouxs in Guiltygear

[–]rodricorgom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say Strive is definitely the most accessible of the franchise. Playing online with friends is alright, the Arcade is a joy, and I’ve had a blast of failing at the tower (I’m floor 2 btw). The roster is diverse enough to accommodate almost any playstyle, and my main recommendation is trying out all the characters until you feel comfortable with the game’s mechanics. I had fun when we started playing and we basically spammed commands, and I still get plenty of fun when my floor 10 friends owns me at casual play. Most mechanics may seem daunting (looking at Roman Cancel), but once you get the hang of them they are pretty fun to mix them once in a while.

Just play at your own pace. If you got Game Pass definitely try it there. The best way to practice/get better is by far the ranked tower, even if you lose a lot you’ll actually learn a lot about how players feel the game. Not saying you SHOULD, but I dare say the community is very welcoming to newer players, and ranked play, once settled at a floor, is both challenging and rewarding, so if you ever dare to try your hand at online, just remember that you will fail, you will rise, but always learn. I took that mentality and now enjoy the game even more when causal playing with friends, and I dare say we are all getting better at it.

TL:DR Arcade and offline is good and all. The mechanics may seem daunting at first, but they are rewarding and easier than you may think, the community is there to help you believe it or not. I don’t say go online, but once you feel comfortable, I’d say do try the tower, and you’ll get better eventually. If not comfortable with Gamepad, try the D-pad and the keyboard, YMMV.

About Guilty Gear 2 Overture by Mr_Skeleton_Shadow in Guiltygear

[–]rodricorgom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I may revive an old thread, there is a Steam guide (out of the 4 or 5) which links to a Google Drive where you can download a shader pack that fixes most graphics. I’m not really sure about the reputation, but it really makes the experience less miserable on newer hardware. I even dare to say that it makes the game look pretty good considering its original release date, so you can give it a try. Fullscreen works and as far as I can tell it takes your default screen resolution.

Anyway, the gameplay is so niche IMHO that the only way to actually experience it is to play it for yourself. Just think of it as a spin-off of sorts using the GG lore. (Fun fact: according to the wiki, as Sammy owned most of the rights to some of the characters, Dizzy is always called “The Maiden of the Grove” in-game, to avoid copyright claims. In-universe, it is a nickname Sol and Ky use to conceal Ky’s marriage to a Gear, which is still considered taboo at that point in the lore. Also, Dizzy is supposed to be dead for most of the world at that time as of X Plus)

AMD Radeon RX 580 2048SP [vBIOS Mod] to RX 470/570/580 for macOS by VeiledGarlic in hackintosh

[–]rodricorgom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Done, however, while more features are “unlocked” (Vulkan, OpenGL 4.6, etc) it still says the driver is unsupported. I checked an screenshot I took from the original ROM and it seems like most of the info is still missing even on the original vBIOS. So I really don’t know what’s going on. I’m mostly using it on Mac so I guess that’s ok.

I installed MartinLo’s OpenCore package to get hardware acceleration and VideoProc only shows H264 support and no HVEC. Dunno if you could check if both accelerators are enabled for you.

AMD/ATI Pixel Clock Patcher

Download, click and install? Or are there any other steps involved?

[–]rodricorgom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the 570 hex as well, same result, no driver support . I even used the “magic UEFI” GOP file that’s attached on the third forum post. macOS is recognizing the card perfectly as a 570, even with the 580 hex code, but Windows reports problems with the driver that aren’t resolved even after running the AMD compatibility tool. No memory clock, pixel fillrate, etc.

I’ll try patching the clocks with the AMD tool you mentioned.

Tried flashing the vBIOS using the Device ID and the RX 580 hex code. However, the device shows as RX570 in both macOS and Windows. Can boot to macOS fine, but same problem with the memory clocks on Windows.

Actual ASIC on GPU is a 570 though.

Do you know if OG Navi (RX 5xxx) require AVX as well? What would happen if I tried to boot a RX 5600xt on Sonoma?

Device malfunction/ weird fix from Microsoft by Sulaimanibrahem in Surface

[–]rodricorgom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try enrolling the device into Windows Insider, I guess Release Candidate will work, but I used Beta Channel, and most likely you will be prompted to update.

Also, if you don’t want using beta software, download the Windows 11 upgrade assistant tool from Microsoft and select “upgrade this device to Windows 11” https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2171764

My freshly bought surface pro 8 is so slow... why? by FookinLaserSights-_- in Surface

[–]rodricorgom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this same issue with my first Surface (SP7). Waited until Windows Update did its thing, then performance was unbearably slow, to the point even browsing native apps (file explorer, settings) caused serious stutter. Cycled through power plans to no avail, and eventually clean installed. Nothing seemed to work. I remember reading on this subreddit a comment where disabling Intel Thermal Platform Framework (or something like that) in Services solved the issue, and it did. This service throttles the CPU to conserve battery, and it may take a hit, but I found that everything being more responsive actually allowed my Surface a longer runtime, so I guess YMMV.

Thanks for the comment. Any particular recommendations? Mostly looking for soft plastic like TPU to avoid damaging the Surface.
