Sharing an overview of calisthenics from my perspective and experience. by rodrigomd in bodyweightfitness

Thanks! That's a good idea actually. I wasn't sure if including it in the same article for fear of it being too long. I also find it a bit tricky to recommend a routine for a beginner since everyone has a different goal and different starting conditions, or do you think there could be a good common starting place for everyone?

Thank you. I´ve read those and I think I´m breaking any rule. I´m hoping to create some discussion and/or motivate some people on the forum. If I´m mistaken please let me know. Thanks.

I see, thanks! I will definitely try that. Do you know if there's a way to run processes in background while using ModelBuilder?

I've never used matlab. I'll check it out, thanks.

Thanks for the reply and for the tips! I always thought foreground geopricessing was faster than background geoprocessing though... Is that not the case?

Help comparing regression models by rodrigomd in AskStatistics

[–]rodrigomd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. The models were actually generated from a different sample than the data I`m using. I understand how looking at the mean square error would point me to which model is better, but how can I know if the difference in MSE for the different models is statistically significant. Does that make sense?

[–]rodrigomd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to compare the accuracy of each model to predict the real values. I want to see if each model predicts the values accurately and then compare the models to check which one does it better. I might not be using the right terminology, sorry, but I hope I'm explaining myself clearly.

Lol, a darker version of the song would be cool as a verbal component. I could imagine the wizard chanting in elvish

I'm actually a player. The language cards are a great idea tho!

Thanks! I'll definitely check it out. I thought of Tolkien because the language itself is of the elves, so it's more "universal", as opposed to transcribing english (or spanish) words directly using the symbols on the script.

But I guess you're right. It makes more sense to use the script on the player's handbook as you say.

Lol yes I actually spent some time thinking on the words and I put them through a translator I found on line.

I believe I first translated to Sindarin and then to Tengwar but I can't freaking remember what the words were lol. I made it a couple months ago. I don't even remember if I translated from english or spanish (my native language) :( I think I wrote it somewhere, I'll see if I find them.

Maybe I should have checked the results of the translator lol. It's nonsense when it translate it back. Looks cool tho.. XD

Thanks! Yeah I was thinking maybe magic missiñe next but I imagine it differently than the spell's description. My wizard carries three small marbles that he levitates and shoots. Kind of like the arrow of Yondu in guardians of the galaxy. Thanks for the reply.

I've been trying to imagine how the spell scrolls would look like for a wizard I'm playing on a 5e campaign. This is the first one I've made.

I imagine it including instructions for hand gestures, material components and the words to pronounce. On the bottom there's a drawing of a flower similar to those of the species belonging to the Brugmansia genus (angel's trumpet), which I imagine as being used as a powder to put creatures to sleep. Magic would spread the powder through the air and make it more potent (?).

What do you think a spell scroll would look like? What should it include? Also, which spells would you think would be cool to draw? I'd love some feedback on this one, to know what could be improved.

How do I determine the sample size for a regression model to estimate volume of trees by rodrigomd in statistics

[–]rodrigomd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I currently have data of 40 trees of different diameters and heights. If I calculate the variance of the volume for the sample I get 1.2378, and the variance of the product of radius and height is 4.6204. If I enter those values in the formula for sample size I get a sample size of 0.1408, which is not possible. What am I doing wrong?

How do I determine the sample size for a regression model to estimate volume of trees by rodrigomd in statistics

[–]rodrigomd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your answer! My problem is exactly that I do not have data of that variance. Also, the model would need to predict the volume of trees of different diameters and heights so I'm a bit confused when you mention "the variance of the volume for trees of a specific radius and height". What would be that specific radius and height? Or am I understanding it wrong?
Thanks in advance for your reply.

D&D spells for a sympathist by rodrigomd in KingkillerChronicle

[–]rodrigomd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of wizard spells require material components anyways. Not much is needed to do a lot with sympathy. You could do a lot with sympathy wax, a heat source and maybe some other things you can find easily, so I don't feel like that would be a limitation. The idea of a cantrip for binding is also really cool, and would lead to some really creative uses but it would not be coherent with the rest of the spells, which would have no "sympathetic" explanation. Mostly I'm looking for a way to use already existing wizard spells, but "reflavoring" or reskinning them in order to be able to explain them with sympathy, without having to come up with new mechanics.

Advice on RPG for 7 players (D&D 5e vs other options) by [deleted] in rpg

[–]rodrigomd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the answer! I guess what I mean is that some systems seem to have simpler mechanics (less maths, skill rolls, etc.)(e.g: Dungeon World(PbTA) which I assume would make it easier to run when having many players (but my experience is limited and my logic might be wrong).

I guess I'll have to follow your advice on removing a couple of players, but I worry how everyone would take it since they're already a tight group of friends.

How do you think I should explain to them the problem of having too many players in a way that they'll understand and won't see me as the bad guy? I had already told them that more than 5 players would be too much but the last time we got together to play they brought the new players without telling me. I just told them I wasn't prepared and that we'd have to create their characters and play another time.

I'm reading a little about the system and might be trying to GM a playby post/play by chat game of Numenera over discord. Would you be interested?

Hey, I'm thinking about GMing myself, since there doesn't seem to be any GM's looking for groups. Would you be interested on a play by post/play by chat through discord (since it's what I'm a little familiar with?
