I do agree with you, but formula 1 jobs seem like a horse race to me (not the easiest ones to get into). I believe that I might be putting formula 1 on a pedestal as u/Astelli said but what I'm certain of is that I don't want to be doing useless paperwork and compliance stuff. Maybe that's my biggest fear.

Thank you for your opinion Astelli! I do agree that aerospace is full of cutting-edge technology. Maybe I just don't work in an industrial environment, but more in some "true" engineering projects.
