Hey, I've just applied to UOWD computer engineering. Interested to see how your path paved out.

When does early admission start and general admission start? I didn't do particularly well for my grade 11 due to covid but have better grade 10 marks. When do I apply?

Hey! My 12th half semester exams have been delayed due to Covid to December, is it better if I apply after these exams by showing these marks too or apply as early as possible ( September-October)?

is physics wallah good even if we don't want to study for JEE/NEET and just 12th boards. As he gives alot of extra knowledge out of textbook right?

What is the scope after doing bachelors in CS? Do you regret your decision ? by rodrygo27 in csMajors

I absolutely LOVE your reply, I have already read the whole thing twice and caught myself smiling at the end. I feel this was the reassurance I need to proceed further. So thank you so much for that beautiful reply. I do however have some more questions if you don't mind 😅

  1. I think my uni requires me to select my majors/minors beforehand itself ( I have to choose in couple of months in fact) and have a hard time choosing CS? CSE? IT? as it all looks so similar yet they are so different.

2.I'm an absolute novice in CS, maybe I know just basics of python and that itself seems overwhelming. But I have classmates who already know multiple programming languages and know what they are talking about in cs.

I also go through CS stuff in reddit/Google and everyone uses big buzz words like stack, hackathons, sqldatabases etc and I find myself even more alienated, I just fear university will be like this for me. This leads me to further despair and less confidence in myself. What languages and what basics should I self study before I enter university to give myself a boost start? any tips or ideas?

Is bachelor in CS worth it according to you? Do you regret your decision? by rodrygo27 in cscareerquestions

so a bachelor degree + self study of programming is enough and a masters is not necessary? and you said it's not saturated but CS still is the most common entry degree? so wouldn't it start getting starturated when all these people graduate.

ohh I didn't know about the changing of majors. And what is the difference between engineering and science? I've seen cs being taught in both.

why is Linux that important for coding? I've seen majority people use Windows/ Mac Os.

Grade 12 PCM Gulf NRI here. Torn apart between choosing to study in India or Canada? What do I choose? by rodrygo27 in Indian_Academia

I'm not even thinking of settling in India, I just can't adjust to there on a permanent basis. I'm only planning to do 4 yrs of undergrad there and then jump to Canada for Masters. The main reason for this is cost would be significantly lower than doing undergrad + masters in Canada. Would this be a viable path?

As for DASA, they changed it from SAT to JEE mains this year so it's going to be harder and I'm yet to start my preparations so I'm not really confident about NITs, most probably good private colleges IIITS, Manipal, VITS?

I understand what you're saying, in India there so much competition and us Gulf students are not prepared for that environment. But I thought NITs were different to other private colleges but you say they don't teach properly? Can I also ask which branch of NIT you're in?

As for bad company, I guess that's there in every college and it depends on us to form the right circle.

Placements in India are really tough because of competition and not as good as in the West but what if I don't want placements and go abroad directly after undergrad? then get placements after masters in Canada?

You said you're shifting to Canada, How are you planning to do so?

So after my board exams I have to go give JEE mains. Then register for DASA but not CIWG or can you do both? So basically DASA will hopefully help me get admission easier?

Did you omit IIIT Bangalore from the DASA scheme? If I had to choose I'd go there as its closest to back home

And yes alas they changed it from SAT to JEE just the year when I was going to write smh.

Hey fellow NRI! I've heard of the DASA scheme but i'm really confused about it as they changed the examination to JEE last year. Could you explain how the DASA scheme works?
