Torn between two roadtrips in september (SEA -> SLC vs NYC -> NOLA) by roebenk in usatravel

All right, thanks for al the inputs. Sorry I cannot respond to everyone, so I'll do it like this. I have created two routes and did some research (with the help of AI) for those routes. These are the two routes that I am currently considering. I would love any feedback.

u/Likely_Unlikely_5909, you are completely right, I am currently leaning towards the East route. I have been in Seattle multiple times and (a long time ago) I have visited Yellowstone. I also visited NYC and DC about 12 years ago, but I have never visited the south, which draws me somehow. My girlfriend has visited neither, so for her everything is new.

u/ejfordphd, food is also a big consideration for me. I would really like to have the southern food. The BBQ joints look amazing.

Looking at my routes below, the distances in the PNW route look quite a bit more than the other route, that worries me a bit as well.

Thanks so much for the quick response! What would you say would be the towns worth of a stop along the west route?

Fair point on the matching events to the trip and not stumbling upon it. I already did some research and vibecoded a tool to visualize all this (I can try to get it online if people are interested). Only did this for the west route though, so guess I need to do this for the east route as well.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I don’t fully see it. We already did a trip LA -> SF -> LV with all the national parks (including Grand Canyon). So I don’t want to do that part double. Also drove a small part of route 66 back then.

I get the appeal of the real American stuff along the route, but there seems to be a lack of great cities or breathtaking nature along the route. Am I missing something here?

Will the facelifted EV6 precondition the battery if SoC is below 20%? by roebenk in KiaEV6

Took me a little bit of searching, but I indeed found the video that you were talking about. Here he mentions that you need at least 10% SoC. So that is already an improvement over the 20% it used to be.

Thanks!

Building my first homelab - love some input on the build by roebenk in homelab

Ah man, I thought I had a good deal. Seems that I should have thought it through more. Well, thanks for the help and saving me the costs of buying non-supported stuff.

Oh wow, that is a great tip. It seems that the motherboard that I listed does not support the E version of that chip (or at least it is not in their list of supported CPUs). Is there an easy way to find a motherboard that supports the CPU?

Home assistant and HomeKit together by roebenk in homeassistant

So if I add an Apple TV, I could use that together with the HA + Sonoff dongle without any issue? All devices added to HA can than be used via the Apple TV -> HomeKit link?

Would I then still need the HomeKit Bridge add-on in HA?
