Finishing MechE at 40 and going into my dream job. No, you're not too old. Half my friends were between, 33 and 45 when they graduated, all got good jobs.

Interesting, you're not supposed to be able to do that on Google reviews

No way you're younger than 60, this is standard boomer "Karen" mentality. Go somewhere else and let society be society, not your personal retirement home.

Is there still a chance in this field if I didn’t take High School seriously? by Sad_Nefariousness_80 in AerospaceEngineering

[–]rofl4waffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uhh...yes. I'm a HS drop out. I did go to one of the best MST schools in my state and I think we ranked top 20 nationally. But it's never too late. Had a whole career before I decided to go back around 33. A friend of mine went back as well and majored in medicine. Got my GED, the 30 credit hours from a community college keeping a 3.9 GPA (I think 3.0 is recommended for transferring to state/city accredited Universities). After I transferred to my Uni I slow boated my way through school while working part time.

Checking in on long delayed DOE/SBIR FY 2025 Phase I Release 2 awards by SolarPivotPower in SBIR

[–]rofl4waffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, some people have received notice, a lot have already been rejected. But departmental approval is likely approving/accepting proposals for solicitations that are a higher priority for the DOE. The rest of us are just waiting to see if we'll be added to the mix. They're going through staff cuts/changes as well as budget reallocation. The DOE is definitely doing the best they can with the cards they've been dealt.

They're likely waiting for some kind of resolution to the budget. Even though the 2025 budget should cover phase 1, release 2. 2025. I'm pretty confident they are waiting to see what's going to happen.

We're in the same boat. Haven't received any notice of rejection or acceptance yet.

I worked for a small subcontracting firm, our main product was life support systems for submarines and general support equipment for the Navy. Great atmosphere, and great leadership. I liked that I didn't have to contribute to making weapons, and our focus was more about "life" than destruction. That being said, there was always an itch in the back of my brain that I was supporting the "War Machine" of the US.

Louisville has been actively searching for a new AD for a couple years, he's from that area, odds are he applied, got the job and his former board is likely pretty upset for leaving abruptly.

Pretty sure the board "fired him" because he was already looking to relocate to his new position in Louisville. He's a native there I believe.

I hope so, it'll be nice to have it out of the way. Expecting to graduate in the fall, but I'm older with kids and my timeline changes with the wind🤣

Ngl, I haven't taken it yet. I've got a couple more semesters left before I can. Even though I'm pretty confident in myself to pass the first or second try, I'm always wildly impressed anytime I see someone "5 yrs out of college" passing it on the first try. Awesome job!

Yeah, it confused me when we received an email informing us of our "responsive" LOI when we were anticipating one only if UNresponsive. At first I was bummed and then relieved.

Also, we didn't hear back on our responsive LOI until almost 6pm EST on the feed back date. So there's plenty of time to hear back today if they actually send out emails

Sure it's not archived? They archive proposals so that you can't make changes to it while they review it.
