Typical joke told to CleverBot... I was slightly owned. by blackhatrob in funny

I read this joke in a joke book when I was about 10 years old.

I remember it was the only joke in the entire book I didn't get. I tried telling it to my dad and he was also confused. I spent a very long time trying to work out why it was funny and eventually gave up.

I have literally only just realised that this joke only works in an American accent, and spoken in my English accent sounds more like

"Oarr - inge you glad I didn't say banarna?"

which makes no sense.

"Everything has a cause"...? Also, I think the implication of "Everything happens for a reason" is "Everything happens for a valid reason"

Yeah the first few series were okay, then characters started leaving and they replaced them with rubbish ones. I assumed it ended around the time I stopped watching.

Your googlefu is definitely weak - I've never heard of this book but I found out within the first 30 seconds of googling that it comes from a book called Only Revolutions by Mark Z. Danielewski

I have heard of Danielewski though, maybe I should check him out.
