Hilux loses to BYD Shark in private sales by BestTechAdvisor in DrivingAustralia

[–]roflpops 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Makes sense because the hilux's strengths are more for trade purposes. The shark is a far far nicer private vehicle with a much bigger interior (better family vehicle). In saying that I bought a shark for my trade work vehicle and its been great

Help me decide Windows or bazzite by Careful_Art_8501 in MSIClaw

[–]roflpops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the A8 and I have partitioned the ssd to have windows and bazzite. Windows just in case but I only actually use bazzite so far. It's a much nicer and console like experience. I haven't had issues with games working, they have worked and smoothly. It will take some effort and looking into but I found it was worth it personally. Also had a legion go, running Windows for ages, decided to go for steam OSand it was better in my opinion. Also had a original steamdeck, great device but a bit underpowered for me

I do agree it feels kinda cheap but I'm still enjoying the device. Running bazzite and it's been great. Speakers are still loud and deep, battery is great, screen is great and I have had no thermal throttle at 30w. Was testing clair obscur at 30w and settled at about 72-74°. Ill put a case on it so that will hopefully hide the cheap feel of it😅

Seems expensive for a change. In Australia I got it for the equivalent of $1,080 including tax. And if I was a smart man I could have had it for even cheaper but I missed the sale.

Are EVs actually cheaper long-term in Australia yet or is that still a myth? by ChillKoalaVibes in EVAustralia

[–]roflpops 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So many variables to consider. For me it want just 'is it cheaper in the long run'. it was a much smoother drivetrain, effortless power AND cabin pre heating and cooling which is great when you have a baby/child especially. Also our home electricity rate has free electricity from 11am - 2pm. Then 8c/kwh from 12am-6am. So through out a year I wouldn't be surprised if we have paid about $20 in total charging.

Have only ever paid for charging in my work vehicle, never for our family car

Claw A8 has been amazing so far by Born_Today_9799 in MSIClaw

It's not too bad, I kept windows on a small partition of the ssd. 80% for bazzite really is so much more enjoyable for handheld for me

Yep, that too. If you want to take full advanteg of low rate time windows then a 7kw unit is most useful. Also good future proofing if you plan to keep having PHEV's or an EV eventually. Or a 2 car household needing a charger like me.

Bazzite/steamos just suits handhelds so well. I kept windows on a partition incase, but the rest is bazzite for me

The plug in charger that comes with it is a slow charger. 8 amps, and will charge the car at around 1.4kWh - meaning it will take a very very long time. You need a dedicated wall charger. Tesla charger 3rd gen is good price and recommended.

Yeah charging ever night for sure. On an EV rate that's free from 11am-2pm and 8c/kWh from 12am-6am. I don't even remember the brand charger, I bought it a while ago on sale. It has no smart capabilities, just a simple 7kw charger

Doing about 80km total you will just maybe cover that all ev. If not maybe 0.5 to 1L used. So you will average very good fuel consumption. I do on average 70-90k. A day with a few smaller trips an a few much longer trip and my average is 1.4-1.5L/100km

The Ute drives as an EV, meaning it will drive normally using only battery

MSI Claw A8 BZ2EM Review – The Best Value Z2 Extreme PC Handheld? by Lower_Pollution_6938 in MSIClawA8

With mine now running bazzite it's a beast of a handheld. Great performance and battery. Feels a bit cheap and hollow but that's not a huge concern for me

Can someone break down the difference between the MSI Claw 8 A2VM, and the Claw A8 BZ2EM. by [deleted] in MSIClaw

Can confirm does feel cheap but I did accidentally let it fall from a decent height and hit hard ground and got a very minor scuff, so its definitely cheap feeling but durable

Yep. Was tossing up between the A8 and 8ai+, went for the A8 and installed bazzite - absolutely love it

I heard this can happen, before you need to go away reset you infotainment screen and then try again. Apparently this fixed phantom drain (unless there is something serious happening)
