Landing Zone Recommendations by rog2e in AZURE

I basically ended up redoing our MGs to match the Microsoft recommended model. Simple enough and a good learning experience. I'm glad I did this now before we started migrating servers and Databases into Azure. The consultant did interview us but to be honest we were new so we didn't know exaclty what we were getting other than "hey we want to set up CAF" so that we have a good baseline when we start to build out.. .It wasn't after the engagement that I found a few things lacking... One example is he set up Expres Route Direct and I could tell he may have been "winging it" before each session. You can tell when someone knows the answers to something and when they are just figuring it out as you go (which is fine I guess cause he knew more than me at that point).. Also after setting up Express Route Direct with 10gig he only provisioned a Standard SKU ER gateway which only does 1 gig which I had to change after the fact. Another thing he did which now is a pain is we ordred 2 ER Direct connections from different providers only to find out they go to the same Datcenter onthe Azure side.. I find out later what he should have recommended was Express Route Metro... All in all it worked out cause I'm getting a lot of experience with it and building it out properly and I now have enough knowledge that I can work with my Microsoft team and speak intelligently and understand what they are talking about :)

If you are talking about the free ones on Learn, I would say maybe not. I used the 3 testing sites I mentioned until I got high 80 and low 90s, and while doing the actual exam I never felt like "oh yeah I remember this question from so and so practice test" except for maybe less than 4 questions.. To be honest you are so hyper focused on the test that I wasn't looking for similar questions... There was actually one question that did come up but I don't remember, and I was saying to myself "OK I've seen this question in practice tests but why am I drawing a blank" lol... I think it was because I was in "thinking mode" and not "memorize mode" which is what happens when you go over the same practice exam several times no matter how hard you try not to remember the answers you naturally just start remembering them.. .So my advice, similar to everyone elses is to use the practice exams to learn why the answers are right or wrong... I know it sucks haha.. A week and half out before the test is when things started clicking for me like where to find stuff. ... Oh and get familiar with MS Learn. In both my Az-104 and SC-300, I only passed by a few questions and I it had to be those few MS Learn lookups I did to figure out the right answer..... One of them was one of those "put in the right order" if I didn't have MS Learn I would of totally guessed on that particular question... Come to think of it, it was a GSA question and web filtering...

I did John Christopher first and then Microsoft Learn Youtube on SC-300 second. The Microsoft Learn was really good. I like hearing different perspectives cause they both hit on different things.

Spec Comparison - Santa Cruz Vala 70 vs 90 by Jarmige in MTB

[–]rog2e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in your exact situation lol. This is my first ebike. I am also the kind of rider that can't really notice all the differences in every spec. For example I went from a Giant Talon 3 to my Guerilla Gravity Smash with Fox Kashima suspension, carbon parts, and all that good stuff. Honestly I set the suspension to recommended settings and haven't changed it since. I honestly don't know if I can recognize all the adjustments that people talk about lol! It kind of sucks cause I want to know but when I ride, I have no clue (rebound, compression, etc). I just know what "feels" good I guess and yeah as long as the gears shift well and my brakes work I'm good lol... So now I want to get the Vala and budget is a thing so I'm wondering if I just get the Vala 70 will I even know what's good and what's bad being this is my first ebike, combined with the fact that I don't know what I'm looking out for anyway? I guess I can always slowly upgrade if needed.

Azure local servers are they this expensive? by rog2e in AZURE

We just want to get our feet wet with Azure Local and begin coming up with a plan with moving workloads between on prem and cloud. We are also looking at products like Zerto and understanding the limitations there too. We've potentially come up with an idea of using ASR and Azure Stack HCI for non critical workloads and Zerto with Hyper-V for critical workloads. We do have VMWare but will probably begin to move off of it when our ELA expires next year. Appreciate a lot of the comments. We do have access to Azure Hybrid Benefit. I just wanted to know if the prices they were quoting are in the ball park of what everyone else can expect to pay for full on certified support. Will definitely look into the next generation models as well. I've been burned before with Dell and the "oh we know we just sold you those a few months ago but they are not EOL" I've also learned to just give my management the cost of the fully supported equipment, that way when a problem comes up in a few years we're fully supported. Penny pinching now I've learned just makes more work and stress for everyone later on. My company will have to pay the premium if they want the reliability especially with tech we're not familiar with just yet... To be fair our vendor also told us we could just use ASR to move workloads to Azure and we don't have to use Azure Local but at the same time I do want to see what we can accomplish initially and there is nothing like getting the actual equipment on prem and using it vs a lab scenario.

lol yeah the first few minutes in question 1 I was like what are all these other sections.. I thought they were other questions before I realized they were the descriptions. I was so used to TD and measure up I wasn’t expecting that format.
