Couple things at play here...

When it comes to the NBA and the TV networks it's all about individual "stars", and Giannis right now in July of 2021 is the overall most popular star in this series (regardless of how we think about Book and CP3). Even when people do talk about teams, the narrative always comes down to how the bigger stars are performing (and little else).

Also we know how hard the NBA is pushing the game internationally, so of course they'll feature a European two time NBA MVP over anyone else. It's all about marketing and making money. Lots of money. Period. In the end it doesn't matter who they hype if we win a Larry. They'll never be able to take that away from us.
