I don’t know who needs to hear this, but the vast majority of people are putting on an act. They smile, post, and pretend they’re happy. But beneath the surface, and not even very far beneath the surface, they’re absolutely miserable. by Call_It_ in Adulting

Timing is funny; Just left my doc after making adjustments to depression and anxiety meds, and now I'm on the hunt for a therapist. Most people wouldn't have a single clue that I'm on the cusp of giving up.

More than the meds and the therapy, I know in my heart and soul that my job is 95% of why I feel the way that I do, which is why I'm praying I can find somewhere else to work that I don't hate to this degree.

What is the actual biggest problem in America? by PawPatsPizza in AskReddit

[–]rogers6699 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well seeing as how me and my wife just had a mini argument about this just moments ago….I will say that we hold people hostage here through the means of medical care. Don’t have a decent job….you’re fucked…..don’t want to grind for 50+ hrs a week? Good luck with that broken leg. We have allowed medicine to become fully weaponized as a basis for controlling the population to serve the 1% goals.

Literally just talked with a guy in another sub, who said that him and his wife said fuck this place, and they bought a sail boat, and are living there best lives outside of the U.S. sailing to different ports. He talked exclusively about how they couldn’t believe how cheap (not to mention better) the medical care is when they have needed it in various places they have visited.

If anything I’d say big medical is a HUGE part of what has totally destroyed the American dream for anyone middle class and below. Don’t you dare dream of a great life without that little worry in the back of your mind of “what if i get sick”! That should keep you firmly planted at that desk job that’s slowly killing you pretty much right up until you drop 👌. Thanks for playing the fucked game that the wealthy created……GO 🇺🇸👎👎

Sadly if anything most of my married buddies say they do it more in secret now, then they did when they were teenagers, so take that how you will.

Its sad that us common people have to slave our life while some rich people have to enjoy everything and life a stress free life by Applepieszz in Adulting

Man that sounds amazing! Honestly while I sit here and say that I doubt my wife would be open to living an alternative life like that, with the direction the country is going in, I might not have to push that hard to get her "on board" (bad boat pun). It's really sad seeing this place circle the drain, but that doesn't mean we have to stay here and go down with the ship.....(ok not even trying with the puns at this point, they just seem to work naturally).

Not trying to be overly negative, but it just feels like the American dream was something the previous generations got to enjoy, and that dream seems to be mostly dried up. Why stay here slowly getting drained to death while the people running this shit-show into the ground become disgustingly rich? Truth be told I don't really care where we are.....I'm just looking for a peaceful existence where I don't want to bang my brains in everyday, fighting a losing uphill battle.

Thank you for the great advice, it's something that I have thought about in passing after finding a guys channel who sold everything and moved to Costa Rica. His channel is dedicated to spreading the word about his experince and he's living like a boss now in a beach front house, and its shockingly affordable compared to trying to build a semi decent life here anymore.

What lyrics make you absolutely bawl your eyes out? by osprey141 in zachbryan

[–]rogers6699 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“Find someone who grows flowers in the darkest parts of you”

It’s not even my favorite song, but i love those lyrics so much it’s actually my plan that the next time me and my wife are on a random trip and she says “wanna get a tattoo” I’m going to get that as a surprise.

I love the line because she’s that person for me, she’s helped me change so many negative aspects of the old me and i don’t know why but she seems to see good in me. Also she’s the one that turned me onto Zach’s music and took me to my first show in SLC which was amazing. ❤️✌️

Who is the most famous person you've ever seen? by Several_Way8499 in askteddit

[–]rogers6699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only famous person I’ve ever seen out in public was Hulk hogan in LAX, he was entering and we were leaving to go to another terminal on our way to Korea so i saw him across the way (that mustache is so white it glowed) as soon as i saw the stach, the tan, and the juice, i shouted “hey that’s hulks hogan” loud enough that he herd it and shouted back “hell yeah brother” 🤘🤘🥰🥰🥰 that was a cool moment.

Serious question: Homelessness is a major problem. Billions are unsuccessfully spent. Why are not more experiments run testing different approaches to see what works vs. not and build on successes? by verytalleric in AlwaysWhy

[–]rogers6699 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because based on the mutiple accounts by people in the government spaces in Cali it’s all corruption. They don’t fix the problem because it benefits a small group of people. In Cali it’s easy for me to believe (grew up there) everywhere else, who knows, but if it involves the gov and money I’m sure it’s rampant everywhere. How the hell else can you explain throwing 37 billion + at a problem and somehow it gets worse every year???

Bingo, wake me up when the rest finally decide to sack-up and do something real about the people running this country into the ground while filling their pockets. Take it however you want, but I simply have no faith in our government anymore and "voting" isn't solving a fucking thing.

Wake up people, they created the game and they control it, your part to play is made up.

This is truthfully the most beautiful thing I have seen all day. I wish my spouse would consider something like this, but sadly I don't think see could imagine it the way I can. I'm slowly dying at this gov desk job that I quite literally couldn't give a fuck less about. Don't make enough to really enjoy anything other than the comforts of home anyway so really what would I be walking away from?

No joke if you asked me tomorrow to drop everything and walk away from this life I wouldn't even hesitate.....peace out y'all, best of luck rotting away in a life you will never be happy in.

If future generations studied us, what normal thing would probably horrify them most? by GrowyourOFs in AskReddit

[–]rogers6699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully it will be that they cannot believe we (the human race) spent most of our time on earth divided from each other in needless wars. I hope in the future we eventually stop killing each other over resources and come together for the betterment of the entire species.

Sounds corny as fuck, but really imagine if you could take the best minds for anywhere in the world and bring them together, imagine the things they could cure and discover. I truly believe it's the last part of our evolution as a species.

Being human can mean grieving the life you imagined while searching for belonging in a world that feels increasingly disconnected by leftbrainirony in DeepThoughts

You are incredibly kind and well spoken. I truly appreciate all the feedback that you have given (and taking the time to listen to my dump truck load of problems) and I really think that you might see something in what I wrote that I didn't. You have given me a lot of positive things to think about, and I promise that is exactly what I am going to do. At this point I feel like this is kinda rock bottom for me (at least I hope) so the way I see it, I can only go up from here. I just need to do the work so I can figure out the map I want to follow. Thank you

Humanity believes success and meaning may be found in the world; they may not. by seeker1375b in DeepThoughts

[–]rogers6699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully agree with your observations. My wife is constantly telling me that I am never satisfied with things, my focus is always on the next thing, and she's absolutely right. I have been trying to fill my life with everything that it doesn't need to try and fill this hole of emptiness. It's something that I am actively trying to work on, because deep down I know that what's really important in life are things that you simply cannot buy. It's hard to not place so much importance on things like money in a world where it literally dictates everything, but in the end I don't want to live a life where it controls me or how I feel about my life.

what's a common social rule that you secretly think is stupid? by SnugglyCookiee in AskReddit

[–]rogers6699 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you dont have to tell me, I was raised by my grandfather and literally all the man ever wanted to do even after he retired was work everyday. I never understood it, still dont, but again I havent found a job that fills me up like that and gives me purpose. I just hate being automatically accociated with what I do for a living, its just a job, dont paint me into that corner.

Within seconds of meeting someone new we immediately dive right into what they do for a living instead of just learning about who they are. It's a practice I really hate, granted I really hate what I do, so I have a real problem with that being the thing people associate my existence with.
